"Horsepower drops from 590 hp to 470 hp, while torque decreases from 640 lb-ft to 535 lb-"

They must be talking about rear wheel hp and torque .

You can go porsche and get a V8 with th 928, and get 600hp with only a stroker motor with cams and intake mod.

Please Mark. Seriously. Whats with the evangelism? I have owned 6 over a 9 year period. I love them - but most do not. Constantly evangelizing about them is embarrassing, here on this site, to the owners who mostly keep to themselves.

The corvette of today and even C5 is so far past what the 928 is able to do in most cases without spending enough to buy a C6, its not worth mentioning. The motor you are talking a about, to do properly, with one's own money, is about 15k. Add that to a nice S4 and you get 30k. Add in all the other stuff you need to get to corvette handling numbers, and you are at 40k. For 40 k I could buy a Z06 (C5 at least, possibly a higher mile C6Z) and add a few power adders, better brakes, etc. No contest.

Be realistic. Nobody gives a ****.

I have one nearly done, and another car body that I may just not use. It just too much of a good idea to move to Corvettes as a platform for fun.

GT2 cars make between 450-500 at the crank according to the design philosophy for the class.

It should be interesting to see how they do. Its a lot of changes going from GT1 to GT2 - Steel brakes and a more production based chassis, engine tweaked down.

The cars aren't even comparable. They aren't even built on the same chassis.

That said, they'll do fine. They obviously know what they are doing and some of what they've learned in GT1 can be applied to the very very different car in GT2.

Pratt & Miller's still bulding the Corvettes... granted there's a major chassis difference between ALMS GT1 vs. GT2.

We will likely see some teething problems/sorting out the new car.

Latest word is that Katech is no longer the engine supplier... that ended with the demise of Corvette's C6R/GT1.

One wonders what other changes occured with GM moving over to the GT2 class.

ALMS GT2 will be even more exciting with more factory backed entries arriving.

You have got to be kidding me. And where did you get this information from?

so, most GT2 RSR porsches have 382 rwhp?
The vets are going to have 425rwhp in GT2? about 80 less than WC GT Vets, which by the way, will be running near the same engine and running near 10 second slower race times than the winning GT2 cars last year.
Did you not notice the WC viper conversion to GT2? do you think it went down in HP compared to the world challenge Vipers to compete in GT2 ALMS? I suppose that viper only has 425rwhp too, right? (same as a 1999 stock street viper with cats and mufflers and 300ccs less displacement.)

Hey, I think adding the vet to the GT2 class will be awesome. It will be like WCGT now, but cars with more power and lighter weights. Vets, vipers, porsches, ferrari's, FordGTs, etc etc. Very cool. Im sure ALMS will do a great job equalizing the mods. I was just poking fun at the HP numbers.
