Usually, one of my 9 year old sons does the pedal pump while I open/shut the bleeder valve. Last week, the kids were out and I had to rely on my wife. It got ugly.

Me: "Press the pedal down."
Me: "Let it up."
Wife: "I already did."
Me: "Like I said, hold it down 'til I tell you. You probably sucked air into the line."
Wife: "OK, but I'm NOT a mechanic!"
Me: "Press down."
Wife: "I already did."
Me: "When do the kids come back home?"

I had a similar situation.

me: "Honey, press the pedal as hard as you can so I can get the centerlock off"
wife: "what's a center lock?"
me: "don't worry about it, just press the pedal please"
wife: "I'm pressing it"
me: "Press it harder please, the wheel's still turning"
wife: "That's as far as it will go, it won't go any further"
me: "get out and go ask the neighbor kid to come over here"

Neighbor kid got in and I had all four center locks off in 30 seconds.

We never got past (with the Cup Car):

Me: "Press the pedal down hard"
Her: "Does this car always smell like this gas smell?"
Me: "No, at the track it smells worse"
Her: "I don't like the smell and the car is too noisy"
Me: "The car isn't running"
Her: "I don't like the gas smell"
Me: "Thanks, I'll do this later"

(The "gas smell" was actually from a 356 with Webers sitting next to the Cup Car)

After reading the responses of the folks who had their wifes help them to bleed their brakes, I have quickly learned to either invest in a Power Bleeder, as Gary suggested, or trade dental consults or track cooked gourmet meals for a new friend to help me out......

See what did I tell you Paolo? everyone has had many of these experiences. Actually bleeding your brakes is far easier than finding someone to help you more than once. I would describe to you the actual process but I don't want to be held liable when you leave pit lane, head into turn one, hit the brakes, nothing happens and you go straight off especially with my lack of ability to concisely describe things, not to mention I'm to lazy to type it up , I think google would do a better job than me.

Maybe rambling and OT, but I found the posts worth reading... until this one.

Not only does he know where to find me, he's only a few minutes away, if it weren't for him posting on here there would be no one to keep me in check and inline

I know I am late to this, but have him get a Cayman S! Great car and it is safe and hard to get in trouble with. Also, they are quick. Stay away from race cars and GT3's for now.
