Tell him to just buy a racing suit and have someone sew an "Instructor" patch on it like some fool (in a Yellow GT3 shared with his dad) did at a CVR event last year! Talked his way into White, was waaaay over his head, got flagged and dropped to Green, snuck back out in White and refused to come in when Black flagged, refused to go see the steward, and slinked off like the POS he was.. Maybe tell your "buddy" to leave the ego somewhere else?

Did I mention this was my mentor?

Certain things are very delicate.......

BTW, I still have to buy a race suit to better adapt to the "in" crowd........and to gain a few seconds.....

Unless everyone in that run group has a car with similar hp and suspension, that don't mean jack.

How about starting off with a 944 - and learn how to drive it. Then if he loves what he is doing he can take his time and find a Porsche that "fits" him.

It will start off a "newbie" with a car that he won't pay a lot of money for (and have lots for all that seat time -- and that's with fixing it up) and he will learn how to drive. He can always ditch it to the next newbie - and get himself something really good.

I hope this isn't a Green to Racer in 30 seconds mentality - but someone who really wants to learn how to control a car a speed...

(And Paolo - psssst - it's the company -- always!)

Shall we start a mantra?
Seat Time.......mmmmmm

Yep, if you slapped on a Sparco you would have kicked my butt at the Glen!

Make sure to tell him - Stand21 custom stuff only, everything else makes you itch and slows you down.

DS,
this individual is a type "A" personality, very successfull, he wants a "real" sports car (911) and wants to be good and fast at it..........

Do you know any 911 owners like that?.......

I am going to tell him to get his own membership on RL and fend for his own....

I think he should skip DEs all together and just go racing.

Too much interference from it's computers and no way to turn them off completely.. tires will go away real quick on the track too... but I had an 05, maybe the new ones are better.

He build his chops on this 951. Cheap so that if his ego is bigger than his talent... Well, you can guess...

917. Be "top dog" from the first lap (if he makes it a whole lap).

917's are hard to find. Better odds for a 962.
