FWIW, all the "beacon" based timers I have ever used (hotlap and ultralap) would sometimes show faster times than I had actually run. At Sebring in 2005 my ultralap showed a 2:24 something, when the time was in fact a 2:27. If you have video of the lap, you can use the RC timecode to verify the time.

I agree with Larry that anything sub 2:26 seems unlikely based on your car. I can buy a mid 2:26 though. I ran a high 2:27 my first time at Sebring in my 964t on MPSCs with a few heat cycles, and Bill Martin ran a mid 2:26 in his USA cup the same year.

If the 2:24 is verified, this scrut would like to inspect the car to see how "special" this "stock" engine is .

I thought there might be something with the timer (I couldn't belive the time) so I checked with the video. Did it with the good old stop watch but it was close (some times less, some times more) so I think it's pretty accurate.

Engine: Maybe the exhaust I have is better than most, I have headers, sports cats & no muffler and I always thought you can't gain anything from exhaust in 993s so I never thought it did much more than sound but it does feel good (besides sounding awesome!).
But remember the weight with about 2900 lbs is very light from 993 stock weight which makes a big difference so if I club raced I'd have to add a lot of weight which would suck!

I agree there are a lot of "nen" Finns who are quick but what about Mikkola, Salo, Rosberg, Palttala, Jarvilehto (that's J.J.), Alen & others.
Petu, bring the DVD along to Homestead. I'll bring my laptop and we can host it on my web site. (if I get internet access).

Also, speaking about fast Finns whose last name does not end in -nen; I just had a chat with Hannu Mikkola last night, a world rally champion from the days when group B cars ruled the planet:

The EN's where faster than the LA's and Rosberg is not a Finnish name , sounds slow

armando,
was behind you for a couple of laps...black carrera s ...

here is my (poor) video behind you....of the spin...

gavin races and is a very good driver in the white gt3..perhaps a little aggressive for the street car he was driving...he sells cars and that car was not his normal vehicle...

2:24 would be a smokin lap in a stock 993, even at 2900 lbs. That's a top caliber pro time. I know Cory Friedman drove Mac's old 993 there in 04 and did some 2:29's. When I did those 2:26's in 06 it was a chilly day which likely helped. That US Cup always ran quicker in the cold. I think that the current rules would have me take 120 lbs. out of the car vs. what it weighed in 06, so low 2:25's might be in the cards with the current rules for H. High 2:23's if Pobst was driving....
