Not going this year but wish I could.
This event is usually held weeks (or a full month) earlier- large piles of snow in the paddock, ice at the apexes and just plain cold etc. and this year the track is new, smooth and fast. So you can bet it's a giga full event.
I'm in red group with Potomac (hey someone has to be the slowest car in red) but I seriously think all the upper groups are pretty fast. I know every effort is made to differentiate by speed/car/ability but we all know that's an imperfect science at best and having overly full run groups just compounds the problem. Not to mention sometimes there is very little knowledge about out of region drivers.
The CI and registrar do their best to move everyone around and keep it fun and safe but if you're in white when you think you should be in red all I could say is try to be patient and polite in your requests- they'll do their best to move you if it's warranted and they can.

With Black the new White that leaves me confused.
Worry not there is an almost stock 912 in Black. What does that say about the speeds in White?

Again, i'm perfectly content to run in White. I'm not there to set any records, just to learn the track and have fun. I feel bad for Sean (1957 356) because he requested to be placed in Black (he was in Green due to this being his first time with Potomac) and when they moved him they waitlisted him.. Now it looks like he isn't going at all.. shame.

Gary, my guess is that you will be lapping everyone in White group more than once, as soon you get your bearings of the track.
It is really a shame what happened to Sean......

I'm in and registerred in White although I sent an email to the registrar about my Instructor certification so hopefully I'll get moved to Black.
Ran there a couple of weeks ago in very cold conditions but the track still had phenomenal grip. Can't wait to try it above freezing and hopefully in the dry !!
#81 with a German Porsche flag waiving above my trailer. Stop by to say Hi !
PS. There still is no transition where they widened the track and it is an abrupt stop in a couple of places having a 6" hole to drop a tire if you're not careful. A couple of laps and you'll have it figured out.

Looking forward to meeting you. We just did the Schatt event last weekend and there are some new challenges. What was once a wonderfully smooth track has been torn up and poorly repaved in turn 5 and 6. 5 is bumpy enough that I take a wider line, kind of straddle the new and old paving otherwise there is a lot of bouncing. The transition to 6 is ugly if you can't get the car settled out of 5.
Also, the GIANT hole off the end of the apex in 9 is still there and will destroy your car if you hit it.
Don't think about all that though. You need to bring your speed because Paolo said you were going to lap us. We're taking that as a challenge!
