Default Harness Advice

Hi Guys,

I have checked my simpson belts and they are now over 5 years old, so I am therefore in the market to buy new as I can't find anyone who rewebs them (checked impact, crow and simpson)

Therefore want to ask your opinions. Chosing between, (I am upgrading from 5 pt to 6 pt belts and want snapon connections with camlock)

1) Simpson platinum camlock $239 but would get a discount for my old belts
2) Schroth clubman #199 (looks nice kit)
3) M&R 6 point $151 (price advantage but is product any good?)
4) crow 6 pt camlock $149

I am always careful on safety but is there any difference between M&R belts or crow which are half the price of others with the same SFI approval rating?

Finaly - which are the better 6 pt belts, the ones which plug directly into the camlock ot the ones that are connected to the lap belts?

opinions on other make / options welcome

Don't know if you use any H&N device but you may want to consider getting something compatible with it. Most racing organizations are mandating the use of them this year and it seems logical that most DE/track day organizations will be following suit in the near future.
Just one more part of the equation. If your racing you need it anyway.

Schroth. They use lightweight hardware ,have high quality webbing, and they have a 2" lap belt if you so desire. I have tried 4 other harness brands and will never stray again!

All of the harnesses he mentioned are compatible with all of the Head and Neck devices.

The 3/2 harnesses limit who can use the car. You must wear a HANS with those.

All the ones you mention are good harnesses. If I had to choose one of the four I'd choose the Schroth. If I had to choose any harness I'd get a Willans.

I loved my TeamTech RamPac harnesses and didn't think anything could be better....until I installed a set of Schroth Titanium Hybrid II 6 points.
The most comfortable harness I've ever used.

They don't reweb them but they will give you $60 trade in. I just called them about a set of Simpsons myself.

And thats not really true. I just sent them one SQ and one Sabelt and got my SB fittings back with new webbing, and both for the price of a new set of any type of belt.

Today I learned about BMW's Driving School - where unlike PCA - 4 pt belts are accepted. However, the only one accepted are the Schroth - Anti-submarine mechanicsm (ASM) belts - written up by some as better than most 5 or 6 point belts.

I wonder why PCA would not allow them at their DEs, yet they are fine for BMW DEs?

Jackie is that you?

PCA is becoming like SCCA.......over regulated. A 4 point isn't acceptable, but a standard automobiles lap/shoulder belt is?
