I agree...Greg's resistance is weak.

Thanks Rick. I'm going to pass on Daytona this year but have a great time. It's one of those tracks you have to drive at least once. I'm sure we'll run into each other somewhere down the line.

That is a good question. I can only suspect that with these nice sticky Hoosiers, we're subjecting the stock parts to pretty ridiculous loads, far beyond the original design parameters.

If you look closely, you'll see that this part has been failing for some time. Only the really shiny breaking points are fresh. The rest of the separated surfaces are actually dull (they've been open/exposed before this final failure).

Thanks for all the well wishes above. I had much help in the paddock and more than a little luck all the way around.

Funny thing... I had been thinking of putting Karl's billet hubs on as a PM earlier this year. It just didn't make the race budget as submitted to the team owner/spousal unit. In hindsight...

Check those 944/968 hubs, boys and girls. Personally, I'd replace the original cast parts on race cars.

Great to see all these great racers, friends, and their families up at RA. Amazing paddock! Fanciest display of gear and team support I've seen outside of pro racing.

Dave, good thing Karl had some at the track. If not, I had my take offs prior to installing Karl's on the blue demon. I helped out a fellow 944 with a spare fuel pump from the white car. Initial diagnosis on my car appears that the oil pick up tube broke off causing a seized motor.

Wow Chris, sorry to hear that. I trust you'll be up and running soon. Do you have a visual on the broken tube, bottom end opened up yet?

I broke the first one on my car back in 2001, about a year and a half after I started tracking it. I broke two more before replacing them with billet hubs. If you have the stock M030 hubs on a 944/951/968 track car its just a matter of time before you break one. I strongly agree with Dave that its best to just go ahead and replace them with the billet units. Why risk ruining a weekend?
