Just as an aside, Ford entered into a cross licensing agreement with Toyota.

Ford got access to hybrid technology (from the Prius) to help develop the Escape Hybrid (my daily driver.....neat little SUV)

Toyota got access to......you guessed it, Ford/Powerstroke diesel truck technology.

You and me both. Our 2000 F350 is starting to show its age. It only has 165,000km (100mi) but it is starting to rust out despite annual oil spraying.

Hurry up Toyota!

Sweet, perhaps we will all be driving Toyota diesels soon!

2005 F-350 DRW 6.0 purschased new. 62,000 miles
2 sets of head gaskets, 1 set of heads, 1 oil cooler
I currently own 5 of the old 7.2,'s 4 have 225K plus miles, Noisy but great trucks I bet I have used and traded 10 more over the years. I own a New Holland formerly Ford Tractor Dealership. Have purchased two 6.0's, personal 2005 F250 which gave my 42 days of down time in 9 months (ford gave me 5K to liquidate the dealer would not buy back even with the 5K from Ford!!) and a 2005 F550 field service truck which has had multiple problems. Sorry to hear the new 6.4 is starting off bad. This could be a big nail in Fords coffin.
I love my new K3500 Chevy dura-max so far! Strong, comfortable and quiet! Looks like the switch to Chevy/GMC will be long term, I just wish they would make the Diesel in Crew Cab Short bed.

On a related subject:

The switch over to the new Federal - EPA mandated ultra low sulfur fuel is just wrapping up. We were warned running the very latest Diesels trucks on the old fuel is very bad.

Also the new fuel has less lubrication qualities and we have been expecting a rash of problems with injection pumps on older equipment.

Lastly we in the off road diesel business are seeing tier III emissions come in. This means 20,000 PSI injection systems with the EPU’s injecting fuel at three points of time during the compression combustion cycle. Maintenance, components, filtration, repairs, training etc- cost $$$$$ up up up

Impressive. I prefer an FN/FAL or HK 91, but that's how I roll.

Well as soon as Toyota builds 2500/3500, Diesel Dually and Cab Chassis type trucks GM, Ford and Dodge will all REALLY be in the crapper.

Seems like their 1/2 ton is hitting the mark. (sure it took them 3 tries, but the fault of the old T100 was never that it did not last, just that it was too small).

I've never been a Chrysler fan, but I bought my Dodge Diesel after very careful consideration of the alternatives, and I could not be happier. It is a well thoughtout, well performing, well put together truck, and I don't see what a Toyota would have over it. Did I mention that the Cummins motor is bulletproof?

I have an older 12v mechanical Cummins diesel, are there issues running the later fuel in the older engines?

Plus you have a buttload of rear seat legroom.
