I wonder where PCA came with the 3064 lbs weight for the stock 993. Till today I was under the impression that this was the official weight given by Porsche. My 993 BTW never made this weight even with the addition of the rollcage and factory tail which meant I had to add weight to the car. However I got hold of the Porsche 993 workshop manual and it clearly states on Volume 1, Overall Vehicle- General, Chapter 0, page 6 under "Weights to DIN 70020 ( manual transmission)" :
Total curb weight: 1370kg which equates to 3014lbs! This figure I had seen again at the Australian Porsche Racing Club site, but this is the first actual factory confirmation I see.
What do you think, is it a valid argument to challenge PCA?

If the factory documentation has a different weight, I would think you'd have a valid arguement.
Unfortunately, there are several lower production cars that are way under the factory weights. The 3.6 turbos are listed at 3274, but it's more like 3150 stock. DrJupeman has to run 180lbs of ballast and he has stock bumpers, a stock tail, stock heat exchangers and leaves the spare in! If he did all the legal stuff, he'd probably need to run 350lbs of ballast, which is just insane.
I am fine with you dropping 150lbs, so long as the real power figure (280hp) is used, pushing you to C

I think if You guys are a bit more patient You can end up with an additional class. The Cayman will be the D car to have soon enough and the 993 will end up as a D- which will end up E with all the other stuff pushed a letter up. Admittedly it will take seemingly forever and the 993 loyalists have endured the round peg square hole syndrome forever already in the current class system. PCA will argue its just for fun and stock is stock etc...soYou just picked the wrong car to fall in love with..

Danny,
I agree. My car had to have almost 200lbs to meet the 3064 weight level. I did gut the car and remove anything I could but even stock my Carrera S street car didn't weigh that much.
For me it is too little, too late. The 993's are great fun but they just don't have a good fit in PCA unless you can run as a RS (with or without all the changes). The scruits have not given all 993 RS clones equal scruitineering and sure enough there are at least 3 or 4 at the Sebring race that I know are not 100% and one of those is a 993 Cup that is converted to a street car. But my car with a 100% stock 3.6 was not legal in C stock even though I was handicapping myself. Go figure.

What's the net effect of this-- that 993's should be able to race weighing 44 lbs less (1370kg = 3020 lbs)? I suppose that won't make us competitive, but every little bit helps.
