Default Lap times at Laguna and Infineon

I'm curious if anyone has any info on what their lap times have been at Laguna Seca and Infineon (Sears Point).

I've wondered what others are doing as well. I was doing 2:10's @ Infineon with a stock '87 944 turbo on Yoko ES-100 street tires with my brother in the car doing the timing.... same 90-95 F... weight w/2 adults >3400 #...

I've done 1:44 at LS in my 3.8L 993 (317hp) (MPSC's, 70 deg) and 1:51 in my SM (RA1's 70 deg)...the fast guys in SM do 1:47-1:48...a faster driver in my 993 can probably do 1:41-1:42....

I've only driven SP twice, once in a 3.6L 993 and once in an SM...no times though...in the 993 it was pouring rain and only my 5th day on track....in the SM we ran the NASCAR config....

My car ran a 1:52 at Sears Point on BFGoodrich street tires in the Open Track Challenge. This is a 247 hp motor in a car that's 2750 pounds with the driver (and has nice air conditioning). Last time I was at Laguna Seca I ran 1:45's, but that was the day I crashed and totaled my previous 911. I've still got the same drivetrain, but the new chassis would probably help my Laguna times.

This is a 1972 911 with RSR flares and a 964 motor in it.

My best lap time at Laguna Seca in this 2500 pound car is 1:44 with R compound tires, stock engine and turbo, MAF and 3" exhaust with mufflers for the 92 dB sound limit I ran Infineon for the first time last weekend with NASA at 95 degreed F and posted a 1:53.9 with open exhaust.

The few times I have been at Laguna and Sears in my 993 I ran a 1:43.2 at laguna and a 1:49.6 at Sears. My favorite track is Sears (Infineon) by a long shot with the hills and on and off camber sections!

1st off you can DRIVE......

It all depends on the class of car in question......I like to think of the big three norcal tracks (laguna-sears-thunderhill) are all around a 20 second window.....since you run 1:53 at Thunderhill....that translates to around 1:43 at Sears and 1:33 at Laguna......give or take a couple here and there....

For example Kibort in his 928 can run 1:59's at Thunderhill, 1:37's at Laguna and 1:47?? at Sears...Another well known 928 racer runs 1:30's at Laguna and 1:39's at Sears...I think he would be in the low 1:50's at Thunderhill....

Brian just gave all my lap times, but I could provide others with less mods and experience.

What type of car and level of driver are we looking to project time or goal for? If its you and you have a 1:53 at Thunderhill (with hill) , Brian's right, you would have no problem working down to 1:33 at laguna or a 1:43 at sears..

He drives a WICKED Ariel Atom....& occasionally races spec miatas....he WON the NCRC race back in June...barely beat a Formula Mazda to the line..but still ran 1:53's in the RACE..... I can't remember if that was going over the top or with the bypass....still 1:55 over the top is FAST.....

This was a question I asked 4 years ago. A lot has changed since then. Now I'm driving a different car and have a Traqmate, so I know my times all the time.

My 1:53.0 at TH was with the bypass. Changes to the car are underway, so I should be faster next time (it never ends).

My best at TH is a 1:56 with 1:57-1:58 more typical (over the hill). At SP my best is 1:45 with 1:47's pretty common. I've never really run LS in a competitive event or without having to add the Laguna Muffler to meet sound (and run at less power). My typical time there doing demo laps for Cherries Jubilee is 1:40 (with a passenger in the car of course).
