16" Wheels and Tires for 924S
Guys,
I have seen 16" 928 wheels on 924 Race Cars.
What is the exact type 928 Wheel (part number, widths, offsets, etc.) that will fit under the front and rear wheel wells?
Thanks,

I have these wheels on my 88 924S parts car.
I know they are 16" wheels from a 924 Turbo. Not sure of they are 6" or 7" however. I have no use for them and had planned on selling them, but have waited until I can get them off the car. I plan to do that this weekend.

I am not sure if your question is answered above but here is what I know. Any late offset Porsche wheel will fit. 8 rear and 7 front. I knew a guy that said he used 8 front and 9 rear, but I doubt it. A friend runs Phone dials 8x16 rear and 7x16 front. He uses 245-45-16 rear tires and 225-50-16 front, but I think you can use the 245-45-16's all way round. There is plenty of room for these wheels and tires, because the late offset is offset to the inside, where there is room on the 924S. You could use late 17's, maybe even 18's, also, because some of the 17's have the same diameter tires as the 16's, simply by going to a lower profile.
Hope this helps,

Actually Tim is asking about 928 wheels on a 924S. The problem is the 924S has NO ROOM for wheels and that is why it is so hard to buy nice wheels for them in comparison to the 944. But any 928 in 49 to 53mm will work. As long as the bolt pattern is the same any late O/S wheel fits and are no wider than 8"'s..... except 18"'s.
I have BTDT and 225 up front is ok but too close to the lip so real stiff springs is advised. 245 on the rear is ok and will rub on the fender under hard cornering and again a T bar upgrade is needed to solve. Or roll/grind the lips off to cure.
All that said the 245's are just too heavy to spin vs 225's on the rear. PCA rules 1" wider than stock. 8"/ 225's are the limit. Dal

Thanks Guys,
Was at a BMW DE all weekend. Too tired to check Rennlist until now.
I am on the quest to find some 7" & 8" wide 16" Diameter wheels for my 924S.
Thanks for the info.

Tim,
If I don't get approved to race, my BBS's will go up FS including the RA1's mounted. 7/205/16 and 8/225/16's also have a set of 205/245 in A032R's as well-practice tires or DE. Dal

Tim, fwiw the Design 90 wheels are a popular choice for these cars and not overly expensive if you look around. I have two sets of 7's and 8's. The 944S2 came with 7's and 8's. The C2 came with 6's and 8's, with 7" fronts a somewhat rare option.
Actually what I'd like to try is some 15" wheels in 7" and 8" widths, but I'm not aware of any 8's being available.
Someone mentioned being able to stuff 245/45/16 tires on the front - I doubt it without some creative bodywork, I know I couldn't on my car. 225/50/16's are a pretty tight fit under the front fenders.
