The funny thing about this situation is that I never argued that using a CPAP is beneficial because I know that it is! I went and got a sleep study done and got a CPAP when I realized I had a problem.

Now, several years later, I am realizing that the better course of action is to stop treating the condition, and make changes to my life to rid me of the condition. Since October of 2023 I am down almost 40 pounds due to diet and exercise.

Exercising has really built up my core strength and fitness level so I am hoping to rid myself of the CPAP very soon. I had been trying from last fall, but when this issue cropped up in February, it really turbocharged my desire to get fit. I have PCA to thank for the increased motivation to get healthy, and getting a diagnosis of mild OSA, or no OSA, is my path back to racing.

I can't recall if I drove one of "grand prix" cars (I might have been too young), but I definitely participated in the other death trap activities at Action Park! The place was epic. There are plenty of videos and documentaries on youtube if you go looking. We're talking about liability in the thread. That place must have been a feasting ground for lawsuits.

The Malibu cars come up for sale now and then. They were made by Lola believe it or not, with wankel engines.

Bravo on making the changes.

Nothing like a turbo to make you go faster!

I am sure your wife and daughter are very happy. Over 2 years, I lost 40# and my my blood pressure dropped. I stopped taking hypertension medication. I was diagnosed with mild COPD and have stopped taking the medication. I have for years done aerobic exercise, core strength and stability, and strength training., In 2023, Luigi we met at a CVR PCA DE at LRP in September 2023 and you were assigned to do a check out on me moving up to Black Group. You decided to find another instructor because of the seat width. Congratulations 👏 on pursuing healthy options over medical devices.

My said she doesn't want to sleep next to Darth Vader anymore so she is looking forward to my ditching the CPAP!

Another big part of my fitness is that I have fallen down the wormhole of eating clean. No more processed food. No more seed oils. I'm trying to eat the way I ate in the 70s. Steak, chicken, fish, with sides like rice and vegetables. All my bread is bought from a bakery - not that crap that stays good for two weeks before it gets moldy. I look at labels now and won't eat food if I don't know what all the ingredients are.

That being said, I am a big fan of Mark Twain, and live by his rule which is "everything in moderation, including moderation." I had a couple of slices of pizza last night and a beer. Today it was back to berries for breakfast.

I recall meeting and you had a seat that looked like it was built for a jockey! I'm about 40 pounds down and I still don't think I could fit in that seat. Look me up in the spring and your right seat can be my test!

If you find it impossible to ditch the CPAP despite your best efforts at lifestyle modification, take a look at the ‘Inspire’ device to see if it might fit your needs if a consult with an ENT surgeon specialising in its placement believes you to be a good candidate.

Good luck and well done for losing 40lbs already!

This is so much detail in your posts that they are unreadable, and it's unrelated to the specific topic of this thread.
.
Oh for heaven's sake. Someone else made a comment first about a different topic and I agreed with him. Then you took my post out of context.

Did you miss the whole PCA vs. The PCA conversation in this thread?

I explored this for two minutes and getting an operation, instead of making changes to my fitness, seemed like giving up.

My pants waist size was 50 a year ago and I am now about to fit into a 38. I know there are some of you skinny b*stards out there with a waist size in the 20s, but I have not had a "3" as a stating number for my waist size in probably 20 years!

I sent the below email to the PCA medical committee last week and had not received any acknowledgement so I pinged them again this morning.

Having now complied with the rules, and used this issue as motivation to make positive changes to my health, I am hoping that PCA will allow all parties to put this matter behind us.

No response and not even an acknowledgement. I guess PCA stands for Passive-aggressive Club of America.

I have now complied with the rules, but in PCA's last letter they basically said the rules are whatever they say the rules are, so perhaps there is a new rule I am unaware of. Every day which passes just reinforces the feeling that they are were never interested in doing what was right or fair. The common theme of most of the complaints which have been aired recently is that you are not allowed to question PCA.

It is ironic that the "defenders of PCA" are complaining about anyone who complains about PCA. Maybe PCA should focus a little bit of their energy on these issues instead of pretending they don't exist. I honestly don't get this victim mentality that PCA is being "assailed". Maybe treat drivers with respect and you won't give them a reason to have issues?

I would have raced at NJMP, and might have brought both of my cars, but now it is too late even if I got an 11th hour response. Registration for this race is sitting at 73 drivers with less than two weeks to go. In 2015 there were 132 cars. It would be a shame if another race got knocked off the calendar as Schattenbaum always does a great job and I really like the track.

I guess PCA wants a fight more than they want a resolution.

What a bunch of BS! You complied with their request and they are still stonewalling you... It would seem if you question PCA about anything you will be blacklisted for life, at least that's the main takeaway I get from this whole exchange!
