Track Event Cancellation Information

Agreed. Unfortunately I think that is going to hurt both races.

Are all DEs issuing "credits" for cancelled events like Chin?
Assuming they were refunded the track fees, is it unreasonable to expect a refund or are there tremendous sunk costs involved that make that prohibitive?
I know many are intricately involved so may have a better outlook on the inner working of this from an organizers perspective.

PCA DE's have been straight refunds so far, at least for me. No credits back to CR or MSR, just a refund to the credit card used to initially pay the reg fees.
That's what I'm seeing so far.

So in the end, we had to cancel the SCCA race at Charlotte Motorspeedway scheduled for June 5-7. Not what we wanted to do, but with the latest from the NC Governor and potential lack of participation, the region decided it was not worth the financial exposure.

Well, we are definitely living in uncertain times. Just after I sent the e-mail announcing our May 16 & 17 DE was open for registration, I found out from Sebring that our event has been cancelled. Sebring management was notified that NASCAR is not allowing any track events until after their May 17 Darlington race. We are working with Sebring officials to see if another date may be available to us and will let you know as soon as we do. I’m so sorry for the confusion. Planning is very difficult right now for everyone. If you have registered and want to cancel, no problem. All cancellations will receive a full refund. However, if you would wait, there may be an opportunity to just transfer your registration to a later date. Please be patient as we figure out what we can do when.

Yep, Chin just cancelled another without offering refunds... I hate to say it but their business model means they are off the list of groups I will ever run with which is a shame b/c they are a good organization but I'm not giving my $ to someone who has now repeatedly demonstrated they will happily keep it if there event gets cancelled. How much $$$ have they held from people now? Just the last 3 events with 50 people per event at $800 p/p would be $40K per event or $120K... Even if you factor in track deposits it's time to give people their money back.

I requested a refund from another non-PCA DE organization and they graciously credited my charge card number, very classy.
