Looking through the list of PCA club races on ClubReg and Daytona in late Oct is listed as cancelled...wonder if that's a typo, or maybe the region is anticipating a decrease in sponsorship and turnout?

Cancelling events in October?! I hope that is a typo as well.

These PCA CR season is going to be decided by Sebring and COTA at this rate.

I was going to have a tough time getting 5 races in this year. Now I'm hoping for one or two.

I was given a bottle of Chivas years ago and was determined to "acquire the taste".....couldn't do it. Tasted like gasoline.

If you don't like Chivas, you don't like Scotch as its about the mildest one out there. Very little peat.

Yes, bourbon helps, and so does its buddies, Canadian whiskey, Irish whiskey and Scotch whisky.

Sorry about the OT post, but what the hell else is there to do?

Canadian and Irish whiskies are "training wheel" whiskies. Very smooth and good to start out with.

If you want to go full bore try Booker's (126 proof) or Baker's (107 proof). That is when you want to get there in a hurry.

Race (sorta) related - Litchfield Distillery near Lime Rock Park has a "cask strength" Bourbon which is in the above class as well.

Canadian Whiskey when I feel nostalgic as my dad drank it. I really like Bushmills Black Bush - still smooth but a bit more kick. Then there is Chivas, which as enough peat for me and saves me from trying all those really expensive Scotches. Jameson should be pretty safe for almost anyone.

What really surprised me was Old Grand Dad Bonded Bourbon. 100 proof, about $18 per 750ml and really nice for sipping. Holds up to being on the rocks well.

I'll look into Bookers and Bakers as I'm game to try new ones.

I made the mistake of parting with $15 on a 750 ml Jim Beam white label, thinking "how bad could it be". Lighter fluid comes to mind, better for degreasing car parts.

If it isn’t from Kentucky it isn’t Bourbon. My beef with bourbon goes to my younger years when I used to bogart some of my folks Heaven Hill and mix it with coke. It wasn’t pretty results later but the price was right.

Hahaha! You can get the boy out of Chestnut Hill, but you can’t get the Chestnut Hill out of the boy! The official drink of the Cricket Club, right, Marc?

Will look for that, Bill. Our “state stores” are only ok down here.

Regular strength is fine for me!
