But, you have not had a single tire failure since you upped your pressures...no? If not, methinks you'll be discounting my used tire price

No more tire failures, now I just wear them out the old fashion way: with blazing speed...

Default Alternative choice?

Has anyone seen or used the new Toyo Proxes R888? I am getting my new Simmons wheels shod with these in the near futrure. I'm running 8 1/2" on the fronts and 9" back, 17'' all round. These will be on the road as well so I hope not to do too much damage to them...we'll see.

When you say torching them in less than 15 heat cycles, do you mean they cord or do they just go away? My current set is showing significant wear after only two race weekends. They never really felt quite right to begin with. My prior set lasted over 40 heat cycles, yes they weren't as effective as the first 10 to 20 heat cycles, but if you got enough heat in them they came back somewhat (maybe a half a second slower).

This topic is very relevant right now as I prepare for the Road Atlanta Enduro. Since my Hoosiers get really greasy at the 40 minute mark, I need something else.

I've been fighting the MPSC's for a couple of years, and rarely get them perfect. I'm wondering if switching to the RA1'a would be better for 90 minutes at Road Atlanta.

I hate to make changes like this without testing the tires myself, but I need to make a decision soon.

Here are my thoughts:
- My car weighs 2500#s, stock SC: may favor Toyo
- Can be hot in Atlanta in April: may favor MPSC
- Possibility of Rain: Toyo
- Enduro driving is not as agressive as sprint driving, so is that 1/2 second/lap as important? but 1/2 second per lap for 50 laps could be a big difference if driving hard.

Would anyone run Hoosiers that long?

Mark,
I remember several mornings that the Road Atlanta race was a fairly cool temperature and qualifying on Sunday morning was very interesting, even on Hoosiers.
I would run the Hoosiers and make a tire pressure adjustment at your pit stop.

Everyone at Sebring seemed to be running Hoosiers in the enduro (except me).

Cord. Even wear with good tire temps.

Interesting....... My current set (two race weekends) is just about to cord. They look like slicks, no visible groves or anything like that. I ran this set hard from the get go. My previous set that lasted over 40 heat cycles, I started easy (DE's and member days). I'm starting to wonder if I need to let them cure for a while after the initial heat cycle. Or, it could be just a bad batch.

I really like the MPSC's. I will get another set, especially for enduros.

Sounds similar. I wonder about the heat cycling. Generally I've been putting on new tires for qualifying and then running in the sprint, what, an hour or two later? Not much time for the 24 hour "sit".
