NYC123 - selling / buying that many exotics is why we will never agree on price would rather over pay vs figuring out how to turn a profit it's a different mindset one no better than the other as I respect your ability.
I am not a dealer have never bought a car in my life to try and turn a profit I am simply passionate about an eclectic group of cars form all eras and enjoy trying many. Simply don't have the space or time to keep and enjoy them all so I tend to only keep cars a year or two before trying something else. I will say some of my favorite most fun cars have been the least valuable, I really don't think you need to spend big bucks to have fun you simply need to have an open mind and not just buy what everybody else is bidding up/ My final edition vintage mini cooper for $20k was hands down one of the most fun cars I ever had. The disagreement o prices I think more likely is related to most people don't realize how much the porsche market has changed in terms of the bid/ask spread. In years past the difference between wholesale and retail was some rational number maybe 10% or so depending on the dealer. So when you saw cars like a CGT advertised at 900k from a dealer retail you could actually sell that same make, model, color, condition car to same dealer for maybe 800k or so with some logical math explaining the difference between what they were paying for their inventory and what they were selling it for. With the mini porsche bubble in certain models past 2 years (not saying CGT) the market is a bit wacky and often there is like a 50% spread on what a dealer would actually pay you for a car vs what he is selling car for. Just not a very logical or transparent market anymore. So when people are looking for "quick" sales of certain models for a truly quick cash sale overnight in many models air cooled cars etc its often a very far away number you will get from whats being asked all over the internet. It does not make some of the crazy asking prices out there not "real" because I guess if 1 person pays these prices then its real at least once, however many of the asking prices sure don't feel real when you actually own the same car and go to sell and see how far away you actually get offers. (not sure this overall comment on the market is really all that relevant to the CGT market). But I can tell you there are certain models many dealers are asking 400-500k for all day and when I ask where they would actually write a check to buy that same make and model from me the answers tend to be in the 200-250 range.... Thats just goofy if you ask me

Interesting that you have two. Do you drive them both or is one kept tucked away?

I drive the red one whenever I get a chance. Silver one sitting in storage. I went to pickup my car from service yesterday. When they started the car, the whole place went silent. Everyone was listening to the exhilarating exhaust melody while having a smile on their faces. Service manager walks up to me to tell me this was his favorite Porsche while 2 918s were also present.

I would have to agree with your service manager on that. And I agree with you, silver cars are the keepers!

Cheers

he is a friend of mine also - if we speak less than a few times a day there something wrong....he loves cars yes, but his average holding period is less than 6 months and he doesn't overpay for anything unless he thinks someone else will overpay on top of him...if anything im amazed buy his ability to buy and sell 85 cars and not get killed like most of us wld.

Bubble?

Thought you had knee issues - you had some incredible cars tried to buy two but was late to the sale.

No, it was just the GT3RS that bugged my knee and hip for some reason.

Since i sold my GT 8-10 weeks ago, very few of the cars advertised prior to mine (despite lowering their ask) have sold (only 2 AFAIK) and many more have been advertised which aren't shifting.

US asking prices are also down to $800k for a GT with 5-10k mileage with Buy it now prices on ebay showing at 750 & 799 recently and it appears that around 700k is the magic number for now.
