Anyone ordering a Macan?

Well, we each have our opinions. There is a market for diesels here primarily because of VW. To me, the reason for the diesel market expanding is simple: better mileage without sacrificing the fun factor. There is a great series of articles on this subject in the New York Times auto section...about two weeks back.
There are, of course, the enthusiasts who would crave a V8 TDI here. And it would be great but methinks there will other Diesel engines by the end of the decade that will be closer to the V8 TDI in terms of performance and will be embraced by VAG and Porsche here.

I agree that the V8 TDI might not be a V8 by the time it gets here. My reall point is that I believes it (or its replacement) will come over.
You could also try to limit the V8 gas engines to enthusiasts, but Porsche has done a good job selling those

Interestingly, BMW/VAG/Merc use the Bosch AdBlue system. In Illinois, I think Merc stop selling diesels because of a state mandate to use B20...I use a place with no bio-diesel and another with B5 max.

after filling our a service survey i get this:
"Please indicate if you own any of the following vehicles (Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Cadillac SRX, Infiniti EX, Mercedes-Benz GLK, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque or Range Rover Sport, Volvo XC60) "
So the Macan Marketing begins...

Mercedes the reason? Not a chance. By volume alone, it is VW in the States and across just about every model. It's 1 in 5 VWs sold here that are TDIs and they're pushing for 30%. Overall, the Germans, of course, are leading the pack and now we have the Jeep CRD again and the Chevy Cruze diesel. Not saying VAG has a better diesel than Mercedes but definitely more volume.

Some clever camouflage.. I saw some renders that supposedly showed the rear tail lamp design and its nothing like what the camo suggests.
Anyhow on that note, I absolutely want one!

It will to some degree for sure but it will bring in first-time Porsche buyers. The Macan might be my first Porsche unless I can find a good, lightly used CD with what I want.

I think its going to be some years before the CD's come down to earth. Used prices are not worth the fuel savings relative to how little they have depreciated from new yet.

Yeah, I can get a used CD with 100k warranty. There are two near me and I've driven them. They're asking $65-66k, so I figure I can get for a bit less. But, I really want Pano and 19s or 20s (can be easily changed). Not too particular on color as long as interior is black.
So, you're probably right. Other issue for me is I drive 20k a year so I definitely want the 100k warranty.
