Is $30-35k a realistic number for a Turbo anyhow? I see dealers here list them for $42k and up; doubt they would come down to 35k mark...

Good news for the people that like a manual:

Quote from the Autocar article:

"From launch in the UK next May, Porsche intends to offer three engines and a choice of either a standard six-speed manual or optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which has been chosen over the Cayenne's eight-speed automatic on the grounds that it provides the new SUV with a more sporting feel, says Woehler."

FYI: Hans-Jürgen Woehler is Porsche's projectleader of the Macan-project.

Did read past that the first time, so I gave the wrong information. Sorry for that

From the photos the Macan really doesn't look the much smaller then a Cayenne.
Yeah, it really does to me. I think that window applique is throwing you off. Look at where the rear window really ends and look how much smaller it is.

Personally, I don't like the extremely slopey trunk.

For the first time in my adult / professional life I don't need to own a SUV for work....and here I am contemplating getting a second! Wish that this was the pajun...

I wish Porsche introduced a proper sedan (5 seater) instead of a small CUV. Imagine a 911 with a bench seat to fit 3 adults, and no, Panamera doesn't count, to big and bloated/expensive and only seats 4.
Before we bought our 5 series, we were looking at both an S4 and a Q5. Q5 has noticeably more room, dimensions aside.

Porsche is bringing a small sedan, the so-codenamed Pajun. Only problem is it won't be for at least another year. I think it's going to be stunning, but not sure if I can wait that long. Perhaps a 3 year lease on something fun and frugal like a GTi and then grab a Pajun when it comes.

Good to know, however, in ~2 years my kid will be big enough to ride in a booster seat thus 911 here I come . Maybe I should get an older C63 to scratch the itch in the meanwhile.

I don't know. I have compared my 05 Ctt with the Audi Q5 and it is only slightly bigger on the outside, while the Q7 makes the Ctt look small. I guess my needs are different, I'd rather have a lighter, smaller, SUV that can still tow a fishing boat or ATV and be able to hit some bad roads and not worry about scrapping and hitting rocks under the body so Air suspension would be an option I would get. Also winter driving & awd are main concerns as well as having great fuel consumption. Most of the time it will be driven by one person and maybe have another in the passenger seat. Size and capability wise. It is near perfect. It could have even been smaller for me, VW Tiguan size.

Road and Track claims to have details others don't

http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/first...can-first-ride

Says Turbo is 395 HP / 406 ft-lbs. And the S uses the supercharged Audi V6 with 335 HP and 339 ft-lbs.

Isn't this against earlier predictions that the Turbo would have over 400 HP and that the smaller 6 in the S was turbocharged, not supercharged?

What I find really appealing is they have managed to keep the curb weight lower than i expected.

Some of the pics the rear looks camouflaged might be smaller than it looks. We'll see at the unveiling.

Hmmm, did some reading, the Pajun may take a while to make it stateside (middle of 2016?) and I was wrong about the booster seat, more like in 4 years so the Macan sounds more appealing now, make mine a Turbo please .

Here is my dilemma now, almost bought a CD in January but decided to keep the ML four more years. Thus since I already have an SUV thinking about getting an E63 but maybe I should get a Macan instead...

Both the photos and first review look and sound fantastic. I bet the rear lights will be very slim, similar to the new 911. I'm hoping for a diesel, manual transmission combination, but I know it's unlikely.

This is getting very exciting!
