I believe that this system is designed for Sequential Gearboxes, so you would have to also install a sequential gearbox too.

All of this is possible, it just costs $$$$$$$$ and you are probably better off bying a 997 Cup. That is unless your 996 is an RS or RSR with sequential....

KMP paddle shift is made for 997 sequential gearbox, there is an air jack blipper but no clutch management, so you need to use the clutch for downshift.
One car in our club races series is running with the kMP , the guy had a gearbox rebuild after 4 hours racing but I don't know if it was time or not to do this. I'm waiting for more races to have an opinion.
It seems there is an other manufacturer in GB but they have problems to work with the BOSCH 3.1 ECU up to now.

i dont think that the newest kmp systems require clutch on downshift . infact ive asked taht question of KMP a few times.

It is clutchless downshifting. You only use clutch when you drive off.

Brant,

Man up and use a clutch. Not only does it take skill, but is also very rewarding when done correctly (so I'm told....)

We use KMP Products and their shift kits alot and they are fantastic.. They interface with the Bosch ECU and all the existing sensors and load cells in the stock system so with the flick of a switch you can go back and forth between paddle shift and stick shift (handy for those running cars in classes that dont allow paddles but also want to run in open classes ) . most of our cars are doing 12 and 24 hour races with gearbox builds before and after so we really do pay attention and notice the difference in regards to gearbox wear on the dogs and claw collars... the KMP shifter more than halved our wear rate...... so very happy! They also have the Motorsport Adjustable ABS systems available which are fantastic!!
Great customer support and easy to deal with...

Your tranny wear will be better with the KMP paddle shifter as it eliminates half hearted shifting and really synchronises the shift cut better than doing it manually.. not sure about the other systems..

Noob questions. do you still use clutch on downshifts? will the system prevent overrev if you downshift inappropriately?
