No second guessing. Your black spyder wheels ( I think that’s what you ordered, right?) are really cool. You’ll love them!

My Panamera finally arrived at PECLA this morning - but one disappointment was that I learned this $165,000 luxury four door sedan has a manual steering wheel column. So it won’t move up and back to allow east egress and ingress for the driver and won’t move to a preset location based on each driver’s key either.

a GT3 missing this convenience item is okay as the focus of that car is being a quasi- race car but the Panamera is a lazy man’s luxury car competing with the Mercedes S560 and the BMW 7 series and the top of the line luxury sedan from Lexus.

plus no offer of a cash refund for this important missing feature. I assume they priced the Panamera with the cost of the steering column push button control so if it is missing they would send the owner a $1,000 refund on the msrp.

or perhaps they could install this feature later on at a dealer as well.

I worry that with that feature missing the car will sell for a discount someday as well.

Did anyone get a refund from porsche for missing features?

Is the electrically operated steering column standard on all models? I didn't see it as an order option on the 4S.

So sorry to hear about the deletion of the powered column adjust. As the car will be the wife’s primary, does she need that feature? Would guess it would be more important to short folks

Standard on GTS and above.
On other models, steering wheel with manual fore/aft and height adjustment is standard. I believe electric used to be selectable as an option, but currently isn’t because of chip availability.

The electric steering column was a standard feature of any Panamera model like it is on almost any Lexus or Kia.

allowing the motorized column to be installed by dealers when the parts are available would have been a better solution.

all the parts could not have been unavailable.

It was.
But if you look at specs now, that has changed.

To confirm, it is standard on higher trims like GTS and above?

An auto adjusting electrically steering column is a very nice convenience feature. Looks like I am out of luck on my 4S order. Do I understand it can be retrofitted if/when parts become available?

From Porsche:

Can I choose to have my vehicle retrofitted with the electrically adjustable steering column instead?

No. Due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, it is impossible to provide the electric adjustment mechanism. Consequently, Porsche is no longer able to offer the retrofit. Because Porsche is unable to perform the retrofit, owners of the affected vehicles will be given a refund of $1,000.

No idea if retrofit will eventually be available.

Well my Panamera 4 PE just left Emden. Things seem to be just over 2 weeks ahead of the original schedule. Hopefully others here have reached that same milestone as well.

Mine received a production number today, so getting closer. From when order was accepted it has moved up 2 weeks. Almost caught dealer off guard on the freeze date. TYD's app is useful so you can pay attention. Mine starts production 4/1 with delivery at dealer 5/9.

Thanks...this has always been one of my favorite wheels...know I'll love them.

However...I spoke too soon on my production dates moving up...as they have now been moved back
My production starting date was 3/2 and the complete date was changed to 3/24. And delivery to dealer date has been moved back to 4/28...about a 2 week delay. Remains to be seen if production will actually be complete tomorrow...but we're hopeful!!!!
