I got a 970 turbo today that has LOT of electrical problems, mostly because it went paddling!
I figure that I’ll have to replace most of the various control modules but I’d like to get some kind of odb2 reader that can go into them all and see what’s doing what.
are there any systems that are reasonably priced that can read everything electronic on the car?
thank you
kim

I went for an icarly , does most things, although it sounds as though you might need one with broader reach. The durametric seems to be a step up, but can be pricey, or a Chinese piwis, depends on how much you want to spend..
Agree. You will need a PIWIS 2 (or 3 if you want to spend more $$). Search for posts by @rbrunelle. He revived a flood-soaked Panamera. I believe he replaced every control module in the car and has gained “hero” status on the forums!
Addendum: The links provided in the above post are for @rbrunelle! Should have paid more attention! Good luck!

Good luck on your project. You have a lot of work ahead of you. Hopefully your instrument cluster and PCM still work, if they do, then that saves you $5000 because a used instrument cluster cannot be used since the mileage can not be over written and it wont match the mileage in the gateway module and the ECM. You will need a factory tester to replace the modules, since all modules must be coded with the vin of the car.
I replaced the power distribution unit along with the gateway, the pyro fuse and the battery controller and that resolved quite a few issues, so thanks to help a advise here I replaced the fluids and took it for a test drive today!!
last few things to sort out, the rear windows and ac controls don’t work (they don’t even come on) the drivers seat controls don’t work and the Hvac blower doesn’t work, there’s an airbag light on. Also the stereo doesn’t output sound, everything else functions as it should and I don’t even have a check engine light!
I have to start troubleshooting tomorrow, if anyone has any thoughts I’d love to hear them.

Thank you! instrument cluster and pcm seem to work fine, just need to figure out amplification I think

Rear windows could be window motors or door modules. if door locks work, it might be only motors but not necessarily. Window motors are available cheap, i replaced all mine. Modules need a PIWIS to program. HVAC fan likely the fan controller. Easy to change and not expensive. Driver seat, likely the seat module under the seat, will need PIWIS to replace, you can use used if available, but will still need to be programmed. Airbag light can be a lot of things, usually high resistance on one airbag. PIWIS will tell you which or what it is. No sound is likely blown Amplifier located in passenger footwell. Some people have has success drying it out. I bought a used one on Ebay. This also needs programming. Ac controller, is the center console with all the buttons and likely shot. Again PIWIS can tell you. Not cheap try to find used on ebay. I'm envious, that's really not that much to fix.

the door locks do work correctly and when you move the window switch you can hear something that sort of sounds like the motor engaging but doesn’t move, even with a little help!
the same thing is true of the seat, the lumbar support moves and the recline function works but it’s doesn’t move forward, back, up and down. All these thing could be jammed but I doubt it because even with a little ‘help’ they don’t want to move.
I will try drying the amp, i got too it today and it’s definitely been wet, I also had a thought that maybe the fiber optic terminals need a clean!?
I will change the hvac motor controller just because and I’m sure I will need a new interface for the back seat, I have a ‘16 base model Panamera here that I’m also working on so I may see if they are compatible and try the unit from the newer one for the purpose of testing, I wanted to do the same with the amp but the ‘11 has burmuster and the ‘16 does not, they don’t directly swap!
I have the piwis 3 thanks to your help and thread!!
I think I got fairly lucky but we’re not there yet haha
I tried the fan resistor from the ‘16 car and it didn’t work, the wiring location is slightly different on the newer unit and so it could not be bolted in place and plugged in but even with it just plugged in it didn’t work. This prompted me to put the blower motor to bench test and and I discovered it was stuck, not frozen but had a small piece of debris somewhere and once I moved the rotor everything freed up and it now works fine, none of it was corroded so hopefully it all good but otherwise I’ll buy a new blower.
I switched out the rear climate controls for the ones from the other car and they work! The only issue is the other car has different options so I’ve ordered a replacement part from eBay.
all good so far but now the bad bit!
I pulled out the amplifier and opened it up, it’s so damaged inside that it’s never going to work again.
i even sent pictures to a company that repairs them and they said they didn’t want to touch it haha, so I’ve purchased a replacement from eBay!
almost there guys!!
I’ll upload the picture of the inside of the amp so any of you guys who are curious can see what they look like inside, although I hope yours don’t look like this lol!!
