Thanks Peter, it's nice how they integrated concepts from the race car.

Then they'll say they your warranty will be voided if you track it. Lol j/k

Cool Video. I stand by my first statement.. Good Looking outside. Cheap inside.. albiet the seats are a quantum leap from the predecessor.

Whats with the paddle shifters? (you know next to the ****ty turn signal stalk ) I thought that car was a manual?

Its like the sports car version of the Panamera. Except in reverse. Panamera Is horrid outside and a dream inside...

This is a base Corvette and makes the widebody C6's look dated. Makes the narrow C6 look like a dinosaur.

They are actually putting energy into engineering manuals to make them better vs jumping to no skill required dual clutches. And FUNCTIONAL aero in a 55k car! Unheard of.

All it needs is a REALLY reliable motor and it will be the best thing since sliced bread. Don't know if I'll be able to refrain from buying one until the Z comes out.
I agree, I respect the guys that have C5's or C6's but they look really out dated next to the C7.
I really like to see what comes out of it with active rev matching and if it will improve on acceleration time during upshifting.

The only downside for showing up at a track day being a brown guy in a Corvette, is the cliche!

Thanks!

[QUOTE=mikymu;10144570]Thx for the kind words

WOW! Really mean looking darth vader! What a mean looking front. What kind of intake is that?

I made it myself to turn it into a front breather, so i could use a undertray with the splitter, lots to do still before march and the racing starts. Some more ducting and I have a carbon hood to vent. It's the good thing about using a old corvette for the track, cut away, it's only a old Corvette

I want it, I want it, I want it!!!

Z06 will be too rich (near $100k on the latest C6, so C7-Z06 will get there).

Rumored to start at $55k, just add the Z51 package and nothing else. A winner, this is not even Cayman money at the new Cayman prices (and the new Cayman just tested slower than the old Boxster Spyder at a long high-power racetrack).

C5 interior is horrid. C6 interior is plenty better except seats (replaceable) and steering wheel (aftermarket options available too).

The C6 Grand Sport is an amazing car for the money, but the C7 looks so much better from all angles.

Carbon Hood, Carbon Roof, Aluminum chassis, 60% increase on torsional rigidity, 450Hp, 450 ft-lbs and a 7-speed manual tranny. Awesome.

No, last Z06 was in the 70s, unless you specced the Z07 package that comes with the Enzo's brakes, etc.

New Z06 should start under $80k

Finally a whole post from Rad that I completely agree with. The Z06 will be marked up when it comes out at about 100k, but that will soon fade and it will take the carbon super special Z to cost that much. I hope they don't make a ZR1 in C7 form.

quite funny it is exactly what I did think of yesterday... was not here for a while now.

it could be quite a fun project car to work on. i am just not so sure about 'rumored $55k'. i think it will turn out to be $70k+, not $55k.

Mikymu's carbon is one savage car!!!

The only 2 toys I consider for the money is any GT Porsche car or a Z06. For the $$ the vette has always had the competition covered. I look at it as healthy competition... Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche are kept honest with the likes of the Vette/Viper/GTR around.

Wanna 911. Reallly??

Chevy Math: Buy a Z06 for 85K because they f@ck the base one with stuff you really need like dry sump and engine placement, then it explodes after 3 weekends at Sebring unless you bring it to MTI and give them a 30K check for engine fix, roll bar, brakes, suspension and aero (BTW, FTF is that tack on piece of plastic doing on the C7's ***? Why not a rear integrated spoiler or nothing?),tTo close to a proven oem GT3 that works. Slower but works.

Forget Z06 and ZR1 at those prices.
Remember that you have to go to a Chevy dealer with Chevy service advisors and Chevy warranty to buy one! Those only apply if they figure out how to make them caddy's. XLR POS anyone? Garbage.

What they SHOULD have done is take the base Corvette, make it RS, strip all the **** out you dont need, give it real 450HP 400LB of Torque, dry sump, real brakes, give it a real LSD, real seats and a real suspension instead of Amish country rear leafs. Charge 80K -90k no discount and you will corner the DE market, with or without warranty and customer service.
Do a hyundai programme where if you buy that wone we hand you an I pad to spec it out for the track, we'll come to you so you dont have to see the dealership, etc...
