2022 Macan Gas Tank Capacity
#17
In 2023 Porsche is introducing an EV Macan. Another possible reason for reducing the range of the gasoline powered Macan,
is to make the range comparison with the EV look more favorable.

It's like the tacky plastic grille piece... it's not about making this generation look good, it's about making the next generation look good.

The Configurator for a 2022 Macan shows a 19.8 gallon gas tank under "Standard Equipment" and 17.1 gallon gas tank under "Technical Specifications."
I contacted Porsche Customer Service and they said the gas tank was 17.1 gallons. All 2021 and earlier Macans have a 19.8 gallon tank. What is the reason for reducing
the gas tank capacity for the 2022 Macan?

Download the "Good to Know" app onto your smartphone, then download the 2022 Macan owner's manual (it's available), then go to the "Technical" section, and tell us what is says there.
Or go ask this guy:

As I said at the beginning of this thread, the Porsche Configurator lists the capacity as 17.1 gallons in one place and 19.8 gallons
in another place. Porsche Support says 17.1 gallons and incoming vehicle features say 17.1 gallons. Owner's manual says 19.8 gallons.
My guess is 17.1 gallons is correct. What do you all think?

I am betting that something is going to be standard equipment that takes up that space near the tank, ie: air tank, transmission cooler, other batteries or electronics, etc. I also think there is much more interest in this subject than I thought. I don't drive long distances or travel much anymore so my tank never goes below 1/2. Capacity is pointless to me.

Eh-um, also wouldn't 19.8 Gallons minus 2.6 reserve,
equal tank size of 17.2 Gallons?
Perhaps this is the confusion.

I'll tell you one thing: all this talk about changing the tank size because of the electric model is BS. There will be no tank in the electric model. It's battery only. Why would they change the tank size to make room for the battery?
I'm sticking with the owner's manual. Dealers don't know sh*t, Porsche Customer Service doesn't know sh*t, and the configurator is wonky (Australian site shows left-hand drive cars, for example).
I'm gonna eat my words. EPA filing for 2022 says 17.2 for S and GTS (65L for 2.0 in another doc, which is 17.17 gallons). 2021 says 17.2 for S, and 19.8 for GTS and Turbo. 2022 data screenshot below.
Links for both documents:
2022 data for S and GTS: https://dis.epa.gov/otaqpub/display_...d=54329&flag=1
2021 data for all three models:https://dis.epa.gov/otaqpub/display_...d=51261&flag=1

Really doesn't matter one way or the other, IMHO. I seriously doubt it will change anyone's buying decision.

Don't be calling peoples opinions BS here. You don't get anything but negativity from discounting the option of others in this manner.

I can comment on the speculation without commenting on the speculator - but you make a good point. My "BS" comment was not directed at any user posting here (apologies if I offended anyone). Plus - I ate my words in my edit.

Back in the day, you could order a Corvette with a 36-gallon tank. Guessing that's not available on the C8, it would take up valuable golf club space...
