Default 2022 Macan Gas Tank Capacity

The Configurator for a 2022 Macan shows a 19.8 gallon gas tank under "Standard Equipment" and 17.1 gallon gas tank under "Technical Specifications."
I contacted Porsche Customer Service and they said the gas tank was 17.1 gallons. All 2021 and earlier Macans have a 19.8 gallon tank. What is the reason for reducing
the gas tank capacity for the 2022 Macan?

Getting parts ready to allow room for upcoming hybrid batteries I would guess.

EDIT: I meant electric batteries of any kind.

The rationale for the reduction in the fuel tank's size would be best answered by a Porsche representative or a statement made by one.

Anything in a forum would be contributor conjecture!

An all electric Macan will be introduced in 2023. They will also be selling the gasoline model for a while.
I do not believe they have plans for a hybrid.

In that thread they were saying that the fuel tank was reduced for the European market but not the US market, however I am not sure that they came to a conclusion if that was accurate or not.

According to Porsche Customer Support, the tank is reduced to 17.1 gallons in the US market. The previous thread did not answer the question why.
I posed this question to Porsche Support and their response was: "your feedback has been documented internally for review." To many, this may not seem
like a big deal, but it reduces the vehicle range by about 14%. With a 2022 Macan GTS, that is meaningful.

These repetitive threads clog up the forum. Rather than creating a need to merge two threads or delete an unnecessary thread, simply add your question(s) to the older thread and bring it back up to the top.

Yes we all can agree Rennlist would benefit from better/more active moderation. Sigh.

At least it's better than the all the car-related Facebook groups I am in. Literally the same questions 3x per week.

Just for giggles I Googled the question as to the gasoline capacity of the 2022 Porsche Macan and these guys told me 17.1 gallons.

IIRC 17.1 Gal is the standard equipment for ROW with 19.8 being an upgradable option,
a few years ago some US PORSCHE model (eg. Cayman) will still let you choose the size of the fuel tank, we just got a free upgrade on the Macan all these years.

As on why they switch to the standard tank for 2022.... I'm sure they'll find a way to blame it on COVID.

Truth is, the 981 tanks held 16.9 US gallons, but the 718 lowered the capacity to 14.2 gallons with an optional 'upgrade' to restore the 16.9-gallon capacity of the previous cars.

Truth is, it cost an extra $200 to get the optional 16.9 gallon tank.

Truth is, this allowed Porsche to claim an (entirely artificial) weight savings on the 718 and gouge buyers for a couple hundred more bucks in return for zero added value.

Truth is, this worked so well for Porsche that it'd be surprising if they didn't pull the same lame-*** trick with their other cars.

That is a possible explanation. However, there is no upgrade option for 2022.
I would pay $200 more if the option existed.
