Default Macan S Gas Mileage

I know what the published EPA figures are, especially the Highway at 23 mpg. BUT, what is the REAL mpg on the highway for a Macan S?

My 991 usually runs about 27 - 28 mpg. I got 31.7 mpg on one leg going to Parade in Lake of the Ozarks. And, our 2010 M-B E350 has gotten around 29- 30, usual is about 27 also.

Your experience will be helpful and appreciated.

Ok this is not an "S", its a turbo, and just for fun wanted to see if i drove "normal" i.e no sport mode how far could i push mileage and range. Test over, sport mode back on.

Pretty good! Thanks for this, Jerry. Just back from checking out a CPO'd Mac S did 149 miles avg 24.5 at avg 45 mph in the Merc. So, your Mac mileage is pretty good!

That's one reason I went with the base. After getting warmed up and with a soft foot, I get 21-23 mph in the city and depending whether a lot of up or downhill 25-32 on the highway. At lower altitudes and when cruising on flat stretches of highway, 29-30 mpg seems about normal.

Around town = 14.8 mpg; highway = 21 mpg (best). This is a Macan S w/Cobb AP.

Our S is too much to fun to drive to worry about the mileage. It's not like gas is $5 a gallon. It gets better mileage then my GT3 (which I tend to avg 17-19 on the street, less the 8mpg on the track. )

Thanks for the above. I am looking at a Base Macan and MPG is a concern. Wish Porsche would improve this, as coming from a BMW they are usually excellent at MPG no matter how fast I am driving them.

I do mostly freeway driving at speeds of 75mpg to 80mpg. What would expect I would average with those speeds. Love the Macan, just not the mpg.

The '14 X3 xDrive 28i I traded in got around 2 mpg better on average in both the city and highway. In 2019, there were some tweaks made to the transmission shifts as I under stand it, and oddly, the official EPA mpg numbers are lower in 2019 and in 2018, but this is what I am actually getting. It's not super great, but over time it's not a huge additional expense compared to what I had been getting. Surprisingly, my insurance only went up around $80 or $90 per year. That's also pretty typical of my highway driving speeds, BTW.

The difference between the 2018 and 2019 models it more than software tweaks. They have different engines. The 2015-2018 have the Porsche twin turbo 3.0. The 2019+ are the Audi 3.0 with single turbo.

I was referring only to the Macan base with the 2.0-liter engine. You are correct that the Turbo and S models got totally different 6-cylinder engines in 2019.

Our 2019 Macan S over the last 12,600 miles has averaged 20.5 mpg in mixed highway and city driving. I've seen 26 mpg on all highway trips. We transitioned from our 2002 Yukon which got about 15 in the city and about 21 on the highway.

Thanks - shame that Porsche can not improve the mpg. It has barely changed since the introduction. I know it sounds stupid when buying a Porsche, but I expect better mpg and BMW’s are mfg are able to do it and keep performance, not sure why Porsche can not. Especially on the base 4.

ok. that wasn’t clear and the thread is about the S. So, I just assumed the S.
