Macan EV: Official EV Macan Discussion - Launch on 25/01/24

Learning that the top model at launch will have 600+hp does pique my interest. My current daily driver is a Tesla Model 3 Performance. It does the job very well for my circumstances. If the Macan EV can do everything the Tesla does with better performance and driving dynamics, I’d be willing to trade up. I don’t need it to be the ultimate driver’s car. I have a 997.2 GT3 and 997 GT2 to satisfy that.
Additionally for US: I understand that Tesla might allow access to the charger metwork and this might be game changing for other manufactureres? If this is true then why will they do this?

Lease only, because the EV resale market isn't there. Let PCNA take the depreciation hit when they try to resell them.

Oh there's ZERO sarcasm here. I drive a ton for work (like 30k miles a year) and I used to have a Macan as my work beater and spent over $8k on gas in 2022 so I moved on to a Taycan until the Macan comes out because I loved the size and utility of the Macan.

I’m excited for this. We have historically been a one car family. Until I got the 992. Then the mrs got a q4 etron. Loving having access to both cars. EV is great for going to get takeout or groceries. 992 for any long trips and the weekend fun.

(leasing was my initial thought until I came to the obvious conclusion that Porsche knows way more about finance than I do).

To some degree. But it's a falling knife situation and their residual predictions 3 years out may well fall far short of what the cars will actually sell for as pre-owned. They can't post too low of a residual as buyers would see that and get nervous and lease payments would be huge. They are going to have to eat a subsidy to move these cars, so take advantage of that. They will raise the prices on their other ICE cars to subsidize their EV deliveries. The 911 is going to be a $200K car pretty soon with no significant improvements/upgrades, so Porsche is raking in tons of money.

My previous DD was a Tesla Model 3 which was a great daily. I live in Chicagoland and the worse battery performance in really cold weather really wasn't an issue for me (and, I would assume most drivers), as I charged at home and rarely drove more than 75 miles in a day. The only thing I really disliked about the Tesla was the build quality and service quality.
I'm currently driving a Macan T which I think is great. The T is a placeholder DD until the 2nd-3rd production year of the Macan EV. Super pumped for the Macan EV!
