Katie, I was droving a BMW in Grand Am Cup in 2005. My very first time ever at Barber Park. I qualified HORRIBLY, yet in the race moved from like 20th in class up to the single digits overall (between my class & a faster class) at the time of a FCY. The team opted to not have me pit, since it was only 45 minutes into a 2 hour race, and we planned to do the driver change/tires. fuel at the half way mark if possible.
Anyway, on the restart, a douchebag in the higher class named Tom Nastasi ran out of talent, hit a curb, bounced off & hit me. I ping ponged into another car, across some rain-soaked grass, and then spun across the track, where I stopped, engine running, at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the 80 car field screaming towards me at WOT up a blind crest.
I had to wait to rejoin the field or get t-boned. I waited, and rejoined in last place. Nastasi coasted to a stop in the grass, having broken a front ball joint while hittin gme. His day was over (JUSTICE!!). The other car involved, Michael McDowell, proceeded on.
I was unsure how damaged my car was. As I accelerated to catch up the field, radioing the crew, I could feel a fender rubbing hard on my RF tire where Nastasi hit me. I could also feel that that rim was badly bent. What I could not feel was that the collision had disabled my ABS.
Thus, as I applied the brakes in the very next corner, the bent rim/square tire locked, no ABS, and before I could react I had slid straight into a sand trap on the outside of T5. 100% my fault--I was so upset at the needless contact, and so worried abotu the car & finishing what had become a great race, that I was slow to react to a locked wheel. I simply did not comprehend what happened for about a second, and by the time I released the pedal, it was too late.
I was pulled out by the safety crew, went to the pits, and we did a driver change after bending out the fender, changing tires, and recycling the ABS. We lost several laps being towed out & in the pits. We ended up finishing in the exact position where i qualified, IIRC, several laps down from the winner.
All of this was captured live by Speed TV, and I ended up having like 5 minutes of solo TV time in the car. I have the clip in .mpg format, but I no longer can host it. It is 10mb long.

Here is a picture taken during the FCY that preceded the accident. The car behind me is, IIRC, the ******* who whacked me, Mr. Nastasi.

Too late. It would now be a calculated move and not genuine proof of innocence.
Sorry Doc, you'll have to find another way to prove you're not an asshat.

I've read these lines a dozen times.
To me, they are an admission of guilt, and an admission that he is not reformed and will likely act in an asshatterly manner again.
But I defer to you and your two advisors for the final determination.
