Rick reporting in from the PCOC
OK, in between 2 actual students and my own run group, I did get a chance to spend some time with Paolo. He rode with me (in Red), I rode with him (in White), and then I followed him (in White) with cameras rolling.
First, Paolo is a friend, so I'm not the best person to serve as his probation officer (or, maybe I am), but considering the pay scale, I'm all you got.
Second, he begged me not to start anything on Rennlist (presumably wanting to save those opportunities for himself). Yeah, right
Third - I am really conflicted here, because Paolo is a awfully good driver. I worry that he is too fast for our slow-as-molasses-in-January group. But, I must report the truth as I see it.
That is one heck of a car; here we convinced him to buy Ron S's ex-race car (what were we thinking) (oh, that's right, we also convinced him to run street tires) and he's still fast. I ran with him in White and figured he would have been mid-pack (no, not 6-pack) in Red. Excellent car control and track manners.
I would have had a hard time catching him even if my Toyos hadn't decided to get slippery just about then.
When I tried to tell him that I thought his driving skills were impressive, he demurred (bonus points for not bragging).
Unfortunately, I don't have proof of Paolo's skills, as I was so busy that I forgot to press the Record button on the camera.
So - does Paolo get out because he is actually a quite capable driver especially considering his status as a relative novice, or does he have to stay in longer because he is, in fact, fairly quick (for HWFM)?
Now, this was only at NHIS (aka Lime Rock without the charm, but with all of the bumps), so maybe we put him on probation pending a review at a real track like WGI? I would be happy to try again.
Senor Turtle, its in your capable hands now.

OK, so Dr. Pain got to Rick and bought him off obviously....."forgot to hit the record button"?????? Do we have TWO PCOC facilities BT? That crap didn't work for Nixon either!
And, if the Doc is STILL running that "I'm only on street tires even though I bring R compounds to every event" jive, this could be a very long 60 days!

He should be complimented for bravery, not punished.......
On a side note, I like my street tires....... they keep me humble....
