Yes, exactly as I would expect for any reply. But if someone there reads this thread on RL it might raise their awareness slightly more than if not.

It's been a bit more than 4 weeks since my transmission failed. Still no replacement transmission </3. I miss my GT4.... Waiting to get it back so I can install a roll cage / harnesses.

I'm 2 days shy of 3 weeks. Still waiting on a transmission. They told me it's expected to arrive some time next week...

Hopefully the delay in transmissions means getrag realized their f up and is fixing them. Hopefully.

Probably not unless somebody in the appropriate position there is reading this thread. Otherwise I wonder how quickly Porsche tears down the returned boxes and relays info back to Getrag, and even then how many boxes Porsche/Getrag has to see before one of them decides to make a production change to address it.

Is this a second batch thing?

I believe it's been reported on this thread (or the other related GT4 forum thread) that the replacement gearboxes, so far, have the same EB welded 3rd gear, not the final fix with splines.

Posting it that way just opens up a can of worms IMHO.
Who is to say that PAG/Getrag will fix it that way? We don't know what they will do.

I should have been more specific - which cars? Seems like second batch cars?

When I got the car back, I asked the chief mechanic wether he knew about a change in the new box. He didn't know but told me that the part number is different as all replacement parts do have different numbers and that he could see it was already the second index so that the part had already received two mods since its original phase. I think what I'm saying is accurate :-)

Lest's see anyway :-)

Correct, who knows how it will be resolved, certainly not me. I also forgot to speculate with the super glue fix, JB Weld fix, and a gear assembly made out of solid Unobtanium-349 billet. Kidding aside, of course, Getrag is the design authority.

If the database of failures that someone started on here gets completed some day, that would help shed some light on this. Take this next statement with a big grain of salt, anecdotal info only...a service tech at a Porsche dealership who does a lot of GT car work there said when I asked if he'd heard of the 3rd gear failures on GT4s "...I think those are the later build cars." He also mentioned he'd seen the online chatter about the problem.

Interesting. Crossing fingers this is why it has not happened to me yet. It has certainly been getting warmed up a bit.

I would think if your car were going to see this failure, it would have happened a while ago. You've got some significant time in 3rd gear at full power, and on-off power.

It seems most of the failures come with relatively little track miles. That to me leads to the possibility of a bad production batch of gears?? Carl
