Exactly. You gotta pay to play.

Given all the GT3-level stuff incorporated into the GT4, hard for me to justify the GT3 costing $40K more. Or conversely, the GT4 appears to be a bargain.

For those who don't think the GT4 has enough power, try flogging a Cayman R and then imagine adding ~50 hp to that. It'll be plenty.
And Porsche is not making this car for someone who can't afford a GT3. Its for someone (like me) who would appreciate a mid-engine chassis and a manual gearbox. So many magazines have reviewed the Cayman and always said "if only it had a 911 engine". They always said it was a more "pure" drive. Well, now we have one!

actually spoke to two dealers this am, who are happily selling at msrp and one even apologized for "not being able to offer a discount". only issue is that I just learned/realized that if we order out of state there is a delivery fee to our local dealer.. so this guy in Cincinnati for example would have to tack on $2000 in delivery fee to my house in SF... I guess a long drive from cincinnati wouldn't suck if still in summer.

Sounds like they are putting more R&D money into making the manual transmission better and quicker. YES! Wouldn't it be funny if one day in the near future, a manual car will be quicker than a PDK because it has less weight, rev matching, etc?

Even if it doesn't, I don't give a crap. Thats precisely why I got the Z06 and M4. I don't care if the 488 has 661 hp. Its still a flappy paddle. I may get one, but it won't be more fun around town than my Z.

Just built one online and sending to my dealer now!

Or a third pedal? Probably because they are moving the GT3 up from its sportscar categorie to supercar categorie.

I need to keep all my extremities occupied when driving. All 5 of them. Couldn't get myself to buy the 991 GT3.

I anticipated that the lap time would be closer to 7:35 rather than 7:40. Now I'm wondering if much of that difference is due to the car being manual rather than PDK. And of course the 7:40 time isn't confirmed yet anyway.

Spoke to my Dealer. I told him I am going to PTS a Cayman GT4 and may give it yo my Wife to share or may sell the GT3 if the real numbers when reviewed look really good. He said no problem. You will have one. So- it will not be difficult to get one but I do have a very good relation

I said 7:40 so kudos to kosmo! kidding. I heard that a GTS was near 7:50 so a 10sec differential would be totally logical in porsche's hierarchy.
AP seemed to suggest that a number slightly under 7:40 may be possible.
I mean a Ferrari 430 Scuderia does a 7:39!

dam good either way...
