718 GT4?
#5852
I was told by a very reliable source on the weekend that the ONLY car that has been green-lit is the 718 GT4.
The Cayman 6 and RS are not yet decided upon - including which engine would end up in an RS. I was told the RS could end up being a turbo at this stage.
Also - as a completely off topic point - later in the year there will become available an "MR" upgrade kit available through dealerships to upgrade 981 GT4's which will include weight reductions and power increases. Also one coming out at the same time for the GT2 RS.

Ok, now that would he cool AF. I would be a Porsche fanboi for life if they did something like that for enthusiasts. Hard to imagine an mr kit for the GT2rs though unless it was for the clubsport. GT2rs Weissach Pack Magnesium Wheel MR? $$$$$$

Cant wait to see the price tag on the upgrades.

Interesting.....so the US and the rest of the world will get them when? I would assume that PAG would make US dealers aware of future products & planning at least on par with Europe.

Betting the MR upgrade (if it’s released) is ROW only.
Will be shocked if it comes to USA

Hopefully they “upgrade” the 981 GT4 strut towers first.

Snowman, what's the engine config and transmission for 718 GT4? I know there has been lots talking about 3.8/4.0 X51 or GT3 blah blah blah, and both pdk and manual. Every source is saying something different....

All he did say was that the 718 GT4 was set - but the other 2 weren't yet due to politics in head office (The Cayman 6 with the issues of the 4cyl sales, and the RS with how it fits in the line up against the GT3. Currently there were still 3 engine options open for the RS. He did say that neither of these were set in stone to ever make production).
He seemed far more excited about the Manthey Racing kits than those other 2 cars. I know locally they intend to have demonstration days at local tracks showing the potential of the upgrades. He was claiming improvements of "upwards of 3s/lap" - in reference to Phillip Island here for the GT4.
The major thing I take out of conversions like this however is that this whole saga seems to have back flips on a regular basis - so any new information is only right until next week. lol
