So, as a new to me GT4 owner, if the lowered cars are having more difficulty, what is the correct (stock) ride height measurement taken from the highest point on the wheel arch?

Absolutely love the car but if there is something that can be done to be proactive on this, I'm in.

I don't know the dimension you are asking for, but earlier in this thread I posted info about OEM spec for ride height and where it is measured, and there are other threads in the GT4 forum covering this same topic with more detail. Use advanced search and search for posts I made in the GT4 subforum that have "height" in the post, also user 4carl had a thread on ride height in the GT4 forum with some good info and I also posted similar info in that thread.

Thanks! I did do some searching AFTER I posted. I apologize. I know better!

I will be checking the ride height later today and see where it is.

The thread kinda died off.

Did the the issue disappear or all cars that were supposed to have this issue by now had this happen?

Or maybe a big lawsuit is brewing and people are keeping shut about it?

i know locally ~10 718 GT4s+Spyders.
I've heard about some rims being bent, but strut towers are OK so far.

Things that make you go hmmm.....

There is a new NHTSA safety recall on certain 981 Boxsters and Caymans for a defective "rear axle side carrier side section". No GT4 cars are affected.
This is an aluminum casting part. It was defectively produced by the casting supplier to Porsche.
Wondering even more now if the infamous "strut tower failure" was a batch of aluminum castings that were also defective.
Since very few or none of the strut tower failures have happened for a long time, one could postulate the defective ones have failed except for maybe some garage queens hardly driven.

I think it was just a poor design. A cast alum hat and low shock travel before bottoming out is a recipe for disaster. . they completely redesigned the hat with reinforcing ribbing on my 992s . don't know about the 718s i do know the 991 was the same hat as the 981 .Ive seen a few of the 991s also blow them out .carl

Hi everyone,
new to the forum but I’m trying to do a strut tower replacement on my 991.2! Read the thread and how joe weinstein had one done on his cayman. I’ve been trying to locate the adhesive kit and there seems to be several types of panel bonds (including oem from porsche and 08115 from 3m).
the service manual also talks about a primer on these aluminum parts prior to riveting which I couldn’t find but was wondering if it’s the same primer used for paint or not?
any insight on this is highly appreciated!

Were you able to get a new strut tower part? Porsche had that part locked down tight back in the early part of this thread. They would only give it to a certified Porsche bodywork shop if a VIN was provided by the shop with proof of damage to the original strut tower. May be why its difficult to source the materials specified by Porsche for doing the repair.

yes, Porsche won’t sell the tower and the adhesive is on back order. Had to source the part from overseas.

Same unibody but we haven't seen any problems so far on the 718s...at least not me.
The 4RS has the front of the C4S so it's a bit more beefier.

will having the front sway bar to medium vs soft , prevent this? most 981 GT4 guys run soft front swaybar and most 718 gt4 guys run medium front.
Just speculating

How big of an issue is this really on a stock GT4 with stock suspension? I'm trying to decide if this issue should put me off looking at them. Intention is street and track use. I don't see myself lowering the car or doing anything radical but I also don't want a car that breaks a strut tower, that's a catastrophic event if it happens at speed.
