great job John! I'm glad you finally met your goal! I'll be out there next weekend with PCA. Hope to see you there?
I'll be out there this weekend. My first time to COTA was in December for a 1 day event (only 2 Dey sessions) and I ran a dismal 2:37 on my track wheels with RE-11's (tire wear is so good I'll give up my pride)
Contemplating putting on my new cup 2's to the OEM wheels and seing what happens this weekend.
After a somewhat sloppy weekend at COTA with lots of traffic, I knocked off a couple of clean laps on Sunday afternoon when the weather cleared and scored a PB. It was an hour-long enduro session, so my brakes and tires were overheating and it feels like there's another ~1 second hiding in there somewhere - really wish I could have landed a 2:31.xx...
Completely stock car, original brakes (last run on the original pads!), stock 20" wheels with RE71 tires: 2:32.23
Not sure how much longer I want to keep the car stock, without adding some suspension pieces for better tire wear. I moved the swaybars from med/med to med/hard, which I think is a good setup for stock alignment settings if you're comfortable with hints of oversteer in high speed corners like the carousel to help with rotation, but it must be managed in the Esses. Once you start adding more camber, I think med/med is the way to go... or soft/med might be the holy grail if you also add stiffer springs.

Great job Shawn considering the condition of your tires and pads! I'm sure you'll have no trouble breaking 2:30's with a proper alignment and fresh consumables.

Thanks, yep those front pads were thinner than the backing plates by the end of the day - toast.
I think breaking 2:30 on a stock car is a stretch, but I do like a challenge.
Another great weekend with The Drivers Edge at MSR Houston - CCW
This was my first time at this track and I ran 5 sessions (2 with instructor and 3 solo).
My fastest lap came on the last session 1.43.64
Same mods as before, but added AP racing front rotors b/c stock were toast!
This GT4 was made for this track! It is stupid quick - car sticks everywhere. I have no doubt that I can shave a few more seconds off this time. I was so glad we were able to run today b/c it pouring the day before - It was so bad on Saturday that I only did 1 session in the morning and packed it up.

Congrats on a great time. I totally agree that the GT4 was made for MSR. The car loves all those little twist & turns. Yesterday was a great day for PBs over at TWS. Almost everyone in my group shaved two seconds. To bad we cannot bottle yesterday's weather.
New personal best at NJMP Thunderbolt of 1:29.86 last Thursday. We had a private group of six drivers (thanks Bob!) and had the pleasure of being the first drivers on the track this season. I thought the track would be quite green but it felt great by mid-day.
My RE71s are about shot. I swapped them left/right at the end of last season so I'm running them "backwards" -- couldn't tell a difference and the track times agree.

there was a high 22 or low 23 with my name on it but traffic or mistakes later in the lap will keep that on the whish list
this lap I lifted for a Challenge Ferrari in T10 to pass me and I gave away a low 23 as I was already .6 faster than the above lap:
Yep, ran that track for the first time a couple of months ago, ever so slightly damp and warm/muggy conditions.
My best was 1:46.01... and I know there's another second in there... so I'd say with your mods, you've got 1 or 2 seconds on the table as well.
It is a fun little track, and the GT4 shines on it.
If you're going to TWS next month for PCA, signup starts at noon tomorrow, and tends to fill up quickly.
hi Shawn wish I could go to tws but will be going to Cota with chin in a couple weeks where I'll see you as well. Going to probably sell the car after that event
