Thanks--maybe too smooth. Could probably push it a bit.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
How are the RE71Rs compared to the Sport Cup 2s?
It's so worth it. Epic, historic track, and the new surface is great. Beautiful setting, too. Just be prepared for lousy weather at any time. Try to do two days to guarantee at least a couple of clean, dry runs.

I'll submit this for High Plains Raceway, though it is a sloppy lap and hope Grant or I will beat it soon. 2:01.71

paradocs98, After reading about the longevity of the OEM tires I went directly to the RE71. I have 4 track days on them and there is at least 4 more. They're not an R-Comp but O.K. I'm running WGI with Metro NY in August, Mentoring on Friday and Instructing Sat & Sun.

Hello Eric, thanks for sharing that incredible video. You looked fast and sounded even faster, wow! I particularly like your turn-in at turn 3 (?) - around 18 seconds into the video. You drop to second and throw that car into the apex like it was a go cart - i love to see a GT4 rotate when you lift in 2nd gear. Wow, you don't fool around. Inspired! ![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

Just watched the video again. Wow. Eric, that was fast. I think that High Plains Raceway is the ideal track for the GT4. You stay hooked up on the long sweepers, and absolutely aggressive on your 2nd gear turn-ins. If it was not for that little bit of a understeer on the left hander after the long straight, I would have guessed you were on R-comps with extra downforce!

Solid driving. Try staying in 3rd gear through T5 and a few other places where you're in 2nd. IMO there are only 2 second gear corners there...

Thanks, I played with 3rd in T5 last time out and data showed improvement. Guessing you like 2nd for T8 (hairpin - nearly requires 1st with 30 mph), and in T11? T3 is tough to carry third gear for me as I felt like I had no front end grip and ran wide. Top of the corkscrew (T13) also seems to work better with second to rotate and data showed 3rd as slower there. Supposed to go out tomorrow again, any advice is welcome.

My interpretation of this is not so much that the lift was at fault since lift is the correct answer when you are understeering. I think because the car understeered off the track and dropped 2, when the rear tire got back on track you still had steering input to the right and that caused the 'hook'. Those are really tough to save. Happy to hear other opinions on this, but that is my thought?

Nice save. The windshield wiper tells the story of much you were correcting. ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I agree, but you can sort of see a wall in the distance there which dominated my thoughts and caused me to panic off throttle. If I had kept my foot in it some, the off probably would've been bigger, but maybe no tank slapper. Gotta love those understeer moments where you realize how screwed you are at the last second.
