Default Cantrell Harness/Roll Bar Install

Today I started to do this install. I'm following the Cantrell Installation http://cantrellmotorsport.com/newsit...nstruction.pdf The BBi product would install in a similar way. The first photo is the stripped bulkhead, next a look at the top of the rear strut with the nuts removed ready to accept the back brace. Following is the carpet cuts marked with the template and finally, the trial fit.

Looks like major surgery Bill! Cantrell's instructions look pretty comprehensive. Any specific pieces of trim that were more difficult to remove than expected?

I have previously done a harness bar followed by a roll bar in a 987 Cayman. I found the trim easier to remove in the GT4, no hidden screws etc. I tend to cut holes to minimum size and enlarge if necessary which adds time. There are a few areas where I will be enlarging the holes compared to the template. I was surprised at the amount of Styrofoam and soft foam that needed to removed from the back of the carpet.

My dealer made a slit in the center tunnel carpet and pushed the bar through to the hole on each side. The slit "self-repaired" and is not at all visible. It made the install much easier and cleaner according to the tech who did it.

needmoregarage: do you have any pictures of the slit that you describe? My Cantrell bar shipped on Friday but is going on a detour to get powder coated to match my wheels and then I'll be getting it installed. Be interested in as much information about the install as you care to share. Thanks in advance!

I'd be interested in seeing that slit also. If I understand correctly, you still need to "tunnel" a lot of foam out to make this work.

I'm on it! I emailed Damien at tire rack today
Do you have the template for the bar? Does Joe have a copy?

Damn it. I just bought another set of PSC2s for Joe and Mooty days. I don't want other wheels, do we have any updated word on Oem size in this savior rubber?

Getting setup for the rollbar install later this month after more break-in miles. Cut hole in passenger LWB. Actually (SmokinGTS) did it. See thread on "What did you do to your GT4 today? "

I finished the Cantrell Harness/Roll Bar installation today. I'm very happy with the results, looks factory. The templates for cutting the plastic bits were right on and I drilled a 2" hole for the uprights as suggested by their instructions, not 1-7/8" per the template. I did do the carpet/bar install little differently. I assembled the carpet to the bar before putting it in the car. I think this helps. The rear stay bars and rear diagonal fit very well with the interlock connectors, without too much shoving and pushing. Overall, a good design.
