Yeah, the grip is definitely on par with the NT01s and the RE71Rs communicate a bit more. Can't beat the price at less than $1,100 for a full set either. These will be my track tires for the GT4 going forward.

A common thought among those who haven't driven the RE-71R, or who drive it for the first time. When I did my first AX day on the RE-71R tires last June, I was expecting something better than my OEM Goodyears. What I actually got was head-and-shoulders above any other tire I'd ever run on short of a Hoosier.

Wow, 2 seconds over the Cup2 on a 2 minute lap? That's substantial, and a little surprising...
I love the RE-11 on my 987.2 CS... it's been a great all-around track tire. I'm glad the evolution into the RE-71R has kept up the performance...
Thanks for the reporting & feedback, Martin.

RE-71Rs performed very well today. I only ran two 20 minute sessions. Same deal here, started getting greasy at about 35/36 psi. I got them up to 38 degrees, which was way too hot. I pitted, let air out in the pits to 35, went back out, and grip was much better. Keep them below 36, probably even lower like jbrennen noted.

Try calling Tire Rack . Julian Chamberlin or Damon would likely be able to help. I think it is a 19x11 ET50 but I didn't ask much about it as I think the widest RE-71R is 285 and I didn't want any fuss/uncertainty with making the 19x11 fit.
Martin said he has BBS 19x11 ET50 with a 5mm spacer and it works for him. See post 38.

A set of RE-71Rs from Costco is just over Cdn $1,200, which is almost a third that of Cup 2s (with exchange factored in). The OZs are starting to look mighty tempting. I suppose people have looked and come up negative, but it would be nice if they offered a 19x10.5 (with the appropriate offset).

Kinda stupid question, but if you add a 5mm spacer in the rear, should you buy new extended lugs too?
