Go on YouTube and search for the user quikagc5. He is in this forum and has some nice videos, especially the one on tws. I've been watching all his videos lately!

Driveway Austin - two big thumbs up!!! I just spent a day learning from Scott (professional driver) at Driveway Austin as a tune-up for COTA on the 17th. All I can say is 1) I learned more than I ever imagined and had a blast doing it, and 2) I will go back soon for more track time at Driveway and more instruction from Scott. Incredible experience, and to watch him drive the GT4 makes me realize just how far I have to go to be half the driver - maybe the rest of my lifetime! Well, it will be fun and expensive trying.

Did his dad also take you for a ride in the Crown Vic? If not, hint at it during your next visit. Oh and buckle up tight lol.

I couldn't bring myself to ask Bill for the Crown Vic ride as I realized quickly he would be faster around the track in the Crown Vic than I would be in the GT4 . . .

Last time I got some instruction from Scott he made me chase him. I can proudly say that I was able to keep up with Scott at Driveway! The part I'd like to leave was that he was in the old, beaten up Crown Vic and me in the GT4....lmao

Don't watch that guy's Youtube videos. He's an amateur hack. It will scar you for life and you'll never drive good again.

I heard he realized once and for all he wasn't good when he went to the Corvette Spring Mountain driving school and got to drive a ZR1 in a Level 1 3 day school several years ago and the chief instructor (Rick Malone) followed him in a base C6 Corvette on a lead-follow. Rick was able to keep up with him easily. There is a 200hp difference plus additional grip and braking on the ZR1. Oh, the chief instructor was shifting and talking on a hand-held walkie talkie too at the same. Pretty embarrassing for quikag.

It's never going to close IMHO. I'm not a RE developer, but if they EVER plan to repurpose that property (i.e. residential and mixed-use retail/multi-family, whatever), it's going to cost a TON in remediation and site clean-up. Imagine 60+ years of racing on that property and the thousands of gallons of fluids dumped.

I heard someone say that the developer will ultimately be required to scrape the top 4 FEET of surface to get to viable soil, then they will have to restore with good soil. Anyone want to guesstimate what that costs over however many hundreds of acres? That's just one cost. What about demo cost of the Speedway? What about digging up all the old pipes, plumbing, sewer, etc., then running new lines and roads for the new development?

There is other land in Bryan/College Station that is DRAMATICALLY cheaper. I never understood what the developer was thinking buying TWS and thinking he could turn it into a high-end development. Then again, I'm just a dumb accounting/finance guy for a heavy civil contractor.

A BIG thank you to myBAiley07 for meeting me at Harris Hill in San Marcos last Friday . . . and showing me how to drive in his car, followed by some fantastic instruction. It was very helpful in building my novice driving knowledge and skill. Plus, he has some new shoes and rubber for COTA this weekend . . .

Thank you M, it was a blast!

Surface has become so atrocious I'm gonna cancel my membership shortly. Vantage72 has a pilot's license which helped out there - only track I know where airborne considerations come into play :-0
