I hit 253 as a high oil temp and coolant was 220ish.

Are any of you going back out to COTA this coming weekend? If so, I am very interested in a Saturday/Sunday.

You know someone takes good care of their car when they take the car home on Sat evening of a track weekend, wash the rims completely, just to bring it back to the track on Sunday to get dirty again.

And the dude can drive too!
No joke, his car is always ultra clean and that matching harness bar is just sick!

263 oil for a bit stuck in traffic, but mostly 255 max. No issues, ran like a champ all weekend.

I don't think there is going to be anything too exciting. I'll post a graph to show the difference, but it felt like power was down ~50HP in that heat and humidity.

Green trace is in spring, blue was sometime over weekend. 4 secs difference in lap-times is my estimate.

That's good data. I always just have to go by butt feel on how much power loss due to heat

BTW they called you out as the dude to watch for in the rear view mirrors during Sunday drivers meeting

Just spent the last 3 days with BMW CCA at COTA last weekend and let me tell you, it was AWESOME! There were so many GT4's (probably 6+) and Porsches out there at times it felt like a PCA event!

Just some background on me and car........

Car - Tarett suspension bits to get camber 3.5F/3R. Max aero. Fabspeed sport headers. OZ 19in/RE71R. Ride height raised 3/4in due to clearance of OZ wheels. Tried to keep temps at 32F/35R hot b/c anything over seemed to make tires more greasy.

Background - No prior track experience. First track day back in May, 2016. 5 total track days before COTA event.

Had a great instructor the first two days and then he let me loose the final day! Below is a video of me playing cat and mouse with cayman gts. I know I made a lot of mistakes, but I somehow clocked a 2:36

Noticed that CGTS avg 133mph on back straight, but with GT4 I was able to get it up to 143mph (avg 140).

Before I forget, I met up and chatted with a few rennlisters on the board who are always so friendly and a joy to talk to, but most of all FAST!

Can't wait to get back out there this weekend with EA!

Cool! I'll be one of the guys with Flamingo Automotive providing trackside garage support. We're usually in a garage in the high teens or low 20s wearing black shirts. Stop by!

Powerloss was very noticeable. There were places that I could really feel it and had to change gearing to not have car bog down. For example, I usually go through 4,5,6 in 4th and 13, 14 in 3rd. This weekend had to go down a gear to not have car become completely bog down in these turns.

I'll gladly take the 4 secs ;-). I was trying like mad to get under 2:30. Had a few laps within 10/100ths of a sec, all in the first two sessions of the day, just to see times drop off fast after that.

Guess, I'll have to wait for winter as from now on out Texas is only getting hotter :-(

I saw as high as 267 oil at some point when I glanced at it, pushing car hard. Car later went into limp mode, but I was so freaked out that it did not cross my mind to look at temps until I was back in pits, at which point it was moot.

Started short shifting after that and letting up in heavy traffic laps to give car a change to breath. 250's highest after that.

2:36 is great driving for first time out there. Good Job! Especially given how hot it was. I see low 2:30's in your future not too long from now ;-)

I was fun "beating" up on the BMW's A bit unfair fight, but still fun....
