anyone doing bmw cca cota June 17-19? I've signed up for all 3 days b/c they just lowered the price to 400/d from 500/day. Every little bit helps!
Best part is that Bridgestone is sponsoring and will be showcasing their RE-71R and have onsite tire service

Unlimited tires

Don't know of one, but the main groups running CotA are Edge Addicts and Chin Motorsports. The combined Texas BMW CCA chapters (Tejas, Lone Star, and Houston) and The Driver's Edge each do one event per year, and PCA does one (or more?) per year as well, so if you want to check out CotA you should check their respective websites for their schedules. CotA is a great place to spectate because they let you stand in the hot pits and even put your head/arm through the fencing onto the front straight to watch, take photos/video, etc, although to be out there you need to be at least 16 and wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes. I'm not sure if the regular spectator areas are open during DEs though, so you may not be able to walk around the course watching from other angles. But if you can get up to the top of the tower, that's pretty amazing even when no cars are on track. And of course it's always car **** heaven because of the types of cars that a facility like CotA attracts. I'll be out with Edge Addicts in June and could give you a ride.

BUT, that said, even one day at cota still beats a day in the office ....

I really recommend seeing if you can sign up for the other two days as well. Cota is a tricky track to learn, even for advanced guys. You tend to be lost the first day. By the second day it starts coming together and by the third you'll feel like you're flying. You'll have a LOT more fun with more than just one day ;-)

That being said, I learn fast and I am brave, plus the car is ridiculous, but I am slowly climbing a tall and steep mountain. If I can clear the whole weekend from family commitments, I will try to include Saturday and Sunday too.

Thanks for the good advice. My experience in sum is: 2010 "track day" hosted by P dealer at Cresson (limited time on track significantly with no real class time, but it was fun); 2016 PCA intro HPDE at Harris Hill (awesome and now hooked); 1 day with private instructor at Harris Hill and 1 more scheduled before COTA; and Driveway Austin instruction on June 3rd for a full day.

I have looked at the roster for the Trifecta and see a few GT4 instructors from this forum - could you guys conspire to see if you instruct me on Friday? I would prefer a GT4 driver as my instructor if possible just because I believe there is an added benefit to instruction from GT4 jockey familiar with the car.

Thanks SnB, it seems the best will be training the other instructors, which is all the better for the rest of us in the field.
