May be possible, but one would be forfeiting his factory engine warranty. Even the dry-sump cars are very clear about this restriction (no slicks on GT3 or RS either).

Maybe they've just added something similar to the Mantis Racing sump plate.

When folks say "slicks" what specifically are we referring to? IOW, does "slicks" include something like Hoosier R6/7, or are we putting these more in the R-compound category, meaning slicks refer to true racing rubber? Just curious.

I wonder if the wing is the same shape except for the wicker bill and how much downforce this setup makes in the two positions.

Default Brakes

The Clubsport has the same calipers, pads and rotors as the 991 Cup....mfg by
Performance Friction. Looks like the hats are different than the 991 Cup.

Stated zero changes other than more oil and the reprogram to account for it in the oil-level measurement.

Slicks are not street legal. Something like a DOT approved Hoosier R7 is R-Compound, but not a "Slick".

It's possible that the difference in the hats may simply be to account for the 5-lug hubs, rather than center-locks.

In the video that was shared the reps from Porsche said the wing is exactly the same with the exception of the gurney flap.

Thanks, haven't had time to listen to the whole thing yet.

How's this for technical info:

Warning:
Don't flick your cigarette out of window while driving
GT4 Aerodynamics likely to result in cigarette getting sucked into side intake flares

If more oil isn't a problem for the GT4 CS, why not just program the GT4 engine to allow more oil?

Seems like grip of the R7 is close to some slicks, and the R7 is barely street legal, so I wonder if Porsche could still deny warranty coverage based on using an R7. It would be nice if they'd provide clearer guidance on this crucially important point.

Not sure how they would know what tire was one the car - does the ECU keep track of max Gs? Agreed that R7s, once up to temp, are a new sort of magical substance. They are about as close as you can get to a full slick, like a medium/hard compound. My first set of 19s will be shod in these

Default Racing tires, not just slicks, are a warranty issue

The GT4 Owner's Manual probably does ban the use of Hooisers. Sure Hoosiers are DOT tires, but Hoosier clearly calls them Hoosier Racing Tires and advises NOT driving them on the highway--the sidewall is not substantial enough.

Hoosier:
NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE: All Hoosier Racing Tires including DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires are designed for racing purposes only on specified racing surfaces and are not to be operated on public roadways. DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires meet Department Of Transportation requirements for marking and performance only and are NOT INTENDED FOR HIGHWAY USE. It is unsafe to operate any Hoosier Racing Tire including DOT tires on public roads. The prohibited use of Hoosier Racing Tires on public roadways may result in loss of traction, unexpected loss of vehicle control, or sudden loss of tire pressure, resulting in a vehicle crash and SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH. Exception-"PRO STREET"

Porsche:
Racing tires
The fitting of racing tires (e.g. slicks) [emphasis supplied] for sporting events is not approved by Porsche. Very high cornering speeds can be achieved with racing tires. The resulting transverse acceleration values would jeopardise the adequate supply of oil to the engine.

Porsche therefore refuses to accept any warranty or liability for damage occurring as a result of noncompliance with this provision.

I wouldn't put words in Porsche's mouth, even Hoosier's own warning to cover their own butt.

This one is simple. If it is DOT approved, it's a street tire. Porsche can't reject a street tire. A Hoosier is a street tire.
