Default GT4 Clubsport info from Tech Tactics West

Yesterdays Tech Tactics was probably the best one yet. Andreas Preuninger was scheduled to give a talk about the new GT4 Clubsport but a few days before was changed to Matthias Scholz. Matthias is the project manager for the 918, the cup car, and now the clubsport. Super nice guy, incredibly friendly, and seemed to be excited to be there with us as we were with him. I've recorded the video of his talk and the QA with him and Jens Walther, it's uploading to YouTube now.

Matthias was kind enough to sign my girlfriends car and take a few photos!

I think that poster board gives us a hint why Manthey is out of the WEC next year. I think he's headed back to VLN racing including a few of these gt4s.

Yes. No changes to the motor at all. Pretty good news

Big thank you bigkraig! Very informative presentations and Q&A on the videos. They were coy about answering questions that could tip off future plans for production cars, but the comment that the NA 3.8 L engine would be available for years to come (at least as replacements) was very interesting. They seem very protective of the numbers, and this is the first time I have heard an official line about "one car less than demand" from Porsche on (presumably GT) production cars, although for the CS they said it will be available in much fewer numbers than that.

So the car will be limited to 360 units worldwide. A unicorn in its first year. Resale will be good.
Will be interesting to see how long they wait until another run... if they do at all.

Replacement tubs will be nice, as they will be needed given the design.
Chopping VINs and crushing bodies is pretty serious. Interesting. They really do not want anybody building additional cars in the 991Cup or GT4CS.

They really emphasized handicapping the car to keep it at least 5 second off the 991GT3 cup...
This would explain why it retains the street engine and no sequential apart from the replacement cost issue.

Slight upfront savings from the purchase of a 991Cup car, and lower rebuild cost/higher lifespan of engine and transmission.

I wonder how much the savings would be over a Cup car given a season of 6 races? (purchase price, spares and rebuilds).

I guess the USA and Canada GT3 Cup series will be a good indication of savings as the cars will be at the same races, door to door.

One thing that stood out to me was the mention of different wheel bearings. I'm wondering if this is a potential weak point of the street car. Thanks for the slides! These are very helpful.
