I have a HD-9 with aluminum ramps and it was not possible to get my GT4 up the ramps by driving the car on nose first. I have the regular 36" ramps but I believe there are longer versions which might make it possible. I chose 36" so that I can close the garage door with the lift down and ramps in place. I don't think there is a difference/benefit in terms of approach angle between steel or aluminum ramps. There is however a huge benefit in usability with the aluminum ramps since they can be removed very easily and stored off to the side. The steel ramps hang and are more in the way. I remove the ramps every single time I raise my car.

I see not being able to drive on my lift nose first as a non-issue. I simply back it on. I don't find it any harder than pulling in straight. If anything it might be easier to center the vehicle using the side mirrors.

I get up with no problems with the extended aluminum ramps.

I have 2 Atlas 4 post lifts, with standard steel ramps. I always back on, and have no issues with any of my cars..These are probably not the ultimate quality of the bend pack, but they probably only go up and down max of 10 times per year, so they suit me just fine..

Just to clarify, when you say extended ramps, you mean the 48" version, like these right? http://www.asedeals.com/store/bendpa...inum-ramp-kit/

I have the 36" version.

Now I gotta figure out how to put this together.

YIKES! I have no idea how I'll get that huge (and heavy) thing down my very steep and curvy driveway.

Went to Mecum Auction in Dallas today and saw the Advantage 4 post lift up close. It's a very nice product and I was convinced that it would be great cost effective lift to buy. Also had good special show pricing and came with some very nice accessories.

Then I got home and compared its dimensions to the BendPak HD9-ST lift and it's 14" wider! Dang it! I don't think I can live with that but I'm also not keen at all about the BendPak air release.

Sigh.....

I'm late to this thread but have you checked out Backyard Buddy at all?
I've had mine about seven years now and its worked flawlessly. I really like the positive locking and its all electric (hydraulic).

Just another option.

I use a pair of Race Ramps with my HD-9 ......they work and are super lightweight. Looks like the Race Ramps extenders would work as well.

I have the Bendpak 48" aluminum ramps but I've read about the Race Ramps being lighter, how do you like them? It looks like they're 15lb vs 25lb.
Are they solid? Anyone else has them?

I have 2 sets of race ramps and have been surprised at how durable they are given that they're so light.
