The question that needs to be asked is how many GT4's have been ordered and or delivered with the lightweight buckets ?

and how many total GT4's have been allocated ( first round) to the US?

I think for Germany, this number should be the opposite.
Most probably >70% of GT4s are ordered with LWBs. It is very rare to get a GT3 with sofas here.

That's why I love germany... tbh, sofas actually give me lower back discomfort..

For those of you who are either waiting for your ordered car to go into production, or you are just waiting for an allocation, I would encourage you to take the car even if LWB's are not available. My GT4 has the LWB's. My 2012 Cayman R had the previous generation "sport buckets". While most people find both of these seats to be comfortable, they are not as soft and comfortable, or as adjustable (!), as the other oem options. The LWB's in the GT4 definitely have a "cool factor". And I like mine. But I would like my GT4 just as much with sofas.

As we know, the LWB's offer the ability to install harnesses. But how many of you are going to install a harness or roll bar and then drive on the street with your harnesses? The harnesses are uncomfortable and they are an inconvenience in a street car. And the LWB's are not nearly as supportive, or as safe, as a true racing halo seat.

I've owned and driven a lot of modern Porsches with all the different seats that have been available, both on the track and on the street. I think this lust for the LWB's is nuts. Considering how difficult it is to get your hands on a GT4 with any kind of seats, I find it hard to believe that anyone would pass up an allocation because they could only get the sofas. This is a great car and those people are really going to miss out.

I hope the positive from all this is that Porsche is hoarding the LWB seats for more future RS cars.

Well said, it's an amazing car and to pass for seats would be a shame. More so if your true intention is to track and plenty of seats available that will fit better. If you feel the seats complete the car, that's your opinion, but we're going to agree to disagree on that one. They're f-ing seats people. (sorry, Pirates losing #rant off, lol)

Yes, they are "f-ing seats". But it's not exactly like seat type is a minor issue. We're not talking headlamp washers here.

More of an issue of spending time waiting and spending a pretty hefty chunk of change and being told you can't even have what you want. Sorry. Whether or not the seats make or break the car, I refuse to spend money on a car and not have it exactly as I want. Will always feel like I am missing something and anytime I saw any porsche with lwb would just **** me off.

If not getting buckets aren't a deal breaker for you then great and hope you enjoy the car in anyway you got it. Sitting here with a car with lwb and telling owners to just accept what's being offered is pretty annoying and dickish. If I cared about being "comfortable" this would not be the car I am trying to get my hands on.

From the 26.09.2015 Dealer Order Memo:

P11 - Full Bucket Seats
Ordering stop from 24.09.2015
From Allocation month 04/2015 onwards up to 10 week delayed relation to allocation month. Orders excl. P11 will need to be pulled forward. Therefore, there is a possibility that orders excl. P11 will be built in an earlier allocation month.

Simple terms: If you got your LWB order in the system and accepted by PAG before September 24th... you should be good. Any order after September 24th for LWB will be declined. If you didn't spec the LWB, chance of your order being built is pretty likely.

Meh...

If you a hardcore track rat you probably would pass on the LWB as they are not the best for track duty. Especially if the delay is risking getting a GT4.

To be honest the LWBs appeal to people who want a "race" look for DD and may hit a DE once or twice a year.

Needless to say I can see the point of his post. Oh and I don't have LWBs and am okay with that . I already have a dedicated track car and if need be will swap in lighter and better fitting Recaros (or numerous other options).

I think most people want the LWB seats for their looks and for future resale value.
If you are not planning on tracking the car frequently and will not install a harness then the sofas should be fine.
I don't buy my cars based on the seats, I buy them based on the entire package, and the GT4 is an awesome one.
Some say..."Will always feel like I am missing something and anytime I saw any porsche with lwb would just **** me off."
Well just think how pissed off you will be every time you see and hear a GT4 going by, when you passed on the car because of the LWB seats.

It'll be interesting to see if this is only a temporary thing, or if no future 981.1 GT4's will made LWBs.
