Also, PAG should offer some form of retrofit option for customers who intended to order these LWB. I can understand there are supply constraints, but there are certainly things PAG can do rather than just say "sorry you can't order." I do expect some level of effort from their end.

If they tell me i need to pay a slight premium 1 year later to have these seats retrofitted? Sure. I just find it totally ridiculous that a delay in supply means one of the key features of the car is gone.

If the seats are a 8K USD option (in where I live), and they say ... Ok. I need to pay 10K instead later when they stock them up and I have first priority given I actually am getting a GT4 but seats were not offered initially? That's acceptable.

Hong Kong. It's pretty much 100 percent tax on the car and any option ... A clubsport package + bucket would be 200K USD already. Yikesssss

I had a chat with my dealer some weeks ago. He said the LWB supplier is Recaro and the spare part cost of 2 lwbs will be around 20k eur. With that price no way to post-order them.

I hope this doesn't affect my build. Last I heard, my car reached v210 (change freeze point reached) on Sept. 11 with confirmed LWB, so I'm hoping it is all good. For some background, I traded a July build for an Oct. one because I wasn't able to spec LWB seats in July.

You would think that with the factory summer break in Aug., they would have been able to stockpile and/or ramp up production for more seats during that time.

I don't understand this given that Recaro Ultima (their best carbon race seats) cost about 12k for a pair and yet the Porsche ones are much more. Normal Recaro Profi Spa Carbons are about 4.5k for a pair. OMP HTE R's are 5k a pair.

I would think Porsche would offer the LWBs for 10k to buyers that didn't have the option. (but it's not going to happen).

Mine is coming in 10 days to the Porsche dealer in France (on the way right now, Sept built) and luckily it has the LBW :-)
I was in the good window.
Good luck for those who are waiting!

The lwb are not made by recaro. There is a video or article somewhere. An American company took over the manufacturing sometime in the early 2000s.

The 997 GT2 seats were made by Lear. Not sure about these 918 ones

PAG should at least offer existing GT4 buyers who aren't able to spec these on day one to retrofit at a cost. I'm trying to have the regional distributor to negotiate that with PAG ... Let's see how that goes

If your car has already gone past the freeze stage, then you are good.

Seats are made by Lear, not Recaro. http://www.lear.com

I dont know honestly and i have not checked up myself. It could definitely be not Recaro. I forgot to mention; dealer is in Germany.

I ordered the Clubsport package and the lwbs are a must for that. My delivery date is mid December. Lets see what comes

As for cost vs top quality race buckets. Don't forget all the airbags and safety regs that don't apply to race seats. Air bags alone add thousands.

This thread by Z356 on the GT3 forums about the LWB is well worth the time to read!
