Good luck with it Jimmy

Checking in to see how all my fello locals are doing in this great time!?

Also a question. I know Charlie, Warrick and a few others have been running Trofeo's in 19's - just wanted to ask what size you are running on the rears?

295/30's or 305/30's? (I have 19 x 11 rims)

As soon as they reopen the borders Mark and I want to get over to the Bend for a run.

Hey mate, frustrating and looking forward to getting back on the track.

I am running 295/30 and so was Warwick. He now runs 18s but not sure what size.

I was looking at getting 305/30 next when these tyres needs replacing. I think they will fit depending on offset. I run 10.5s. There is a thread somewhere here about 305s

I think you need 997 front calipers. You don't need to change the rears to make 18in fit. Clubsport would work as well but more expensive.

I fitted 997 cup car calipers (which are a direct bolt on) and the 18"s work fine with good clearance. The rears fit over the OEM calipers with good clearnance. I had a set of 18" semi forged Koya's made up; 18*9 ET50 and 18*10.5 ET45 $1780 delivered. I am now running 295 and 265 AO50's and I'm happy.

Absolutely awesome. I do remember that mod but had not heard anyone in Aus doing it or any others apart from the original Deman car.
But the caliper to rim clearance looks too small. How is heat soak? Any stones jam in there? Are you happy with it?

Question for the aussie owners.

Has anyone got an aftermarket 1/2 cage that has been CAMS Approved and also keeps the roof liner in?

Considering putting one in during the lockdown, current options:
- BBi or similar but unsure if I can get CAMS approval
- AGI make a 1/2 cage but unsure if it works with the roof liner
- Getting one custom made but doubt it is worth it.

I don't mind the couple of plastic trim cuts you need to do to get it to fit, but being also a street car I want to keep the roof lining in.

Don't want a full 6 point cage either as street cars and not planning on doing Targa or door to door racing at the moment.

Charlie - surely most of the copy half cages are the same spec as the OEM club sport cage. They certainly work with the roof lining. It’s only the front part of the OEM cage that needs it removed.

Im going to pull the pin on the Dundon kit to see if I can’t find those extra km/hr up Mountain Straight you have. Although at this stage I’ll probably stick with the OEM muffler.

They aren't an exact copy. The OEM clubsport cage bolts into the top of the luggage bar (still secure) but the OEM GT4 goes into the floor. Also the OEM cage has the rear diagonal going from the rear right of the car towards to front left. Problem is CAMS/Motorsport Australia require this diagonal to go to the drivers side but it goes to the passenger side because RHD. OEM cars are ok because they come FIA approved, but even an aftermarket exact copy won't be approved. Stupid but they are the rules.

Also don't know if we can get them approved with them bolting into the top of the luggage bar instead of the floor, even with a cross brace. e.g. https://www.bbiautosport.com/product...etcup-roll-bar

Hence the question

Re the wheels and brake disc clearance, there are no issues and it works perfectly. Re the cage Charlie, I don't know. I bought the OEM front sections ($10K) when I bought the car and it is VIN coded to the car and FIA approved hence I got the car CAMS 2B log booked without issue. I coud run it in in Class C ProdSports against some Lotus Exiges. I have never fitted it and I'm thinking of it now but have the same issue as you re the headlining which I know has to come out of 991 GT3s to accommodate the front section. Also it's a heavy beast but has the double side intrusion bars so would be very safe.

BTW, any half cage will get CAMS (MA) approval if you just use the car for speed events (not racing) and get it log booked as such so BBI would be fine. Ian from NSW Supersprints can do approval.
