Don't forget the hockey puck. It's easy to accidentally crunch something if the jack slips as it takes up weight.

I wasn't aware of this but I'll look for one. Thanks! I have something similar for my M3.

I got a quote today for Xpel. I'm wondering though...is it OK for me to do a thorough paint correction before I bring it for a wrap or will that harm the adhesion? Evidently the best detailer around here doesn't do wraps and the best wrap guy doesn't paint correct. I was trying to find a one stop shop and not do it myself but it is starting to look like I'll need to take care of any initial paint correction myself (I can do it...just rather not).

"Full Coverage Package $1400 installed including sales tax
- Full Wrapped Hood
- Full Wrapped Fenders
- Mirrors and Door Cups
- Front Bumper kit
- Headlight and Fog Light kit
- Front of Roof and A-Pillar kit
- Behind Rear Tires

Rocker Panel kit $400

I use all precut patterns from Xpel software cut on Xpel Ultimate PPF and
SunTek clearcoated Paint Protection Film. The SunTek film has a 5 year
manufacturer's warranty and the Xpel Ultimate has a 10 year. I typically
use the Xpel on light cars as it resists discoloring slightly better, and I
use the SunTek on dark cars as it is much more forgiving and leaves less
distortion in the adhesive."

Careful with applying Xpel to the headlights of the GT4. Search for deamination of the UV coating on the GT3 forums to get the details.

Based on that information, I plan to leave my headlights bare, as much as that annoys me.

I went through this on my GT3 and what I was told then -
If the paint is in pretty good state (which it should be being a new car), doing a correction is probably a waste of money since the wrap kind of hides minor defects anyway. And yes, the installer said having trace leftover polish on the edges of panels can effect adhesion and to wait a week if I did do the correction before installing the film. I didn't. I got it wrapped first and then detailed/cquartz afterwards.

That Xpel quote is good for that amount of coverage. Xpel is in the middle of making all certified installers have a base minimum price it seems, even cold calling installers for quotes to check up on them, and that quote you got is very much on the low end. I didn't paint correct mine before installing and all my installer does is wash and clay the car before laying film down. I'm probably going to spend this upcoming weekend doing some single step correction (Sonax Nano Paint Cleaner) on the non-filmed areas that clearly show some light wash swirls to level out the shine.

I also went ahead and did my headlights again like I did on my GTS. My installer has no qualms doing them and has successfully removed them without delamination. Even if removal is a roll of the dice, I'd rather have a chance of it being damaged with delamination than it definitely being damaged being peppered by road bits and washing.

I don like the thought of have very visible lines film you would get with the "front of roof and A pillar kit" and the "behind rear tires", that is part of the rocker panel kit. Instead I am considering installing the rear bumper kit instead of the behind the rear tires kit and no roof or A-Pillar. so the kits that I am currently looking at are:
1. Full Hood, Fender and Mirror Kit
2. Front Bumper Kit
3. Rear Bumper Kit
4. Rocker Panel Kit
5. Headlights - undecided

Are you all leaving your cars debadged after the rear bumper is covered? The lettering has to come off to cover the bumper.

The wrap is cut around the letter similar to the side scoop.

That sounds incredibly labor intensive and I'm wondering how it would look. Will all those cuts be straight? Risk to the paint while cutting? Will all those cuts collect dirt and grime that typically befalls the rear bumper cover?

Might be worth considering ordering new lettering from Porsche and just put them on top of your wrap. They're just help on with an adhesive tape.

If I'm not mistaken I remember hearing a similar suggestion by my installer, as to the badging and having it removed. I need to ask him again. I won't have a car for at least two more weeks.

According to SunCoast the 'GT4' will cost you $45 and the 'PORSCHE' is $75

PORSCHE (I assume this is the same for all cars)

From looking at the X-Pel website, it seems to appear that the rear bumper film has pre-cut holes for the lettering.

Interesting. I'm trying to imagine an installer trying to line that up.

My understanding is that the best installers do not use the pre-cuts. They order large sheets from XPEL and custom cut everything to size.
