i think it'll just be an adapted powerkitted engine. the real question is the gearbox, not whether it is PDK but whether the gear ratios are different.

Using what body? There are no 'turbo' body Caymans.

What, this method of body widening doesn't do it for you?

I think 450hp is real optimistic.
I think if it happens it will be in the 400-425hp range.
Will have better aero, with a larger rear wing and with louvered front fenders a la GT3RS.
May offer a PDK but I doubt it since it will be a very limited production car.
Will be stripped out even more, only come with LWB seats if they have them in stock.

I'm all for Porsche creating a better gear set for the car. That means they'll be available to retrofit to a standard GT4.

Main savings over going aftermarket would be if Porsche made a different mainshaft with a shorter 2nd gear that could be retrofitted to a GT4, but I have a feeling even then it would be an expensive proposition, particularly to fix just one gear (I'm assuming people don't really care about 1st gear). For the other gears, GTGears seems to have people covered and offers multiple options tailored to different use cases. Even if Porsche sold individual GT4 RS gears (do they currently sell individual gears for the 981?), I can't imagine them offering a radically better deal.

GTGears has already stated that it's very unlikely that they'll create a new 1st/2nd-gear mainshaft. Since it's the 83 mph 2nd gear that will be spoiling a lot of the fun, that's the one I'm particularly hoping the factory addresses. Fixing 3rd & up with current aftermarket offerings is just a partial solution.

The .2GT3 will should be bumped up to the .1RS engine to solve that problem.

Pure speculation, but for an originally unplanned RS model before the 981.2 and to meet the overwhelming demand of the 981.1 GT4, I think Porsche will seek to get the most bang for the buck from their existing hardware and production capabilities. So, I'm guessing that means offering only the PDK-S gearbox from the 991 GT3, bumping power to 410hp via the Carrera S Powerkit, fitting a larger/taller rear wing, and dropping a few pounds where possible. I doubt we'll see dry-sump lubrication or vented carbon fenders and production will be less than 1,000 worldwide. That’s my wager.

Ahhh.......speechless, not in a good way.

Well I guess that's one solution, just screw the flairs on.

The realist amongst us. I would not expect the 'bump' of the gt4 rs to the gt4 to be any different to the bump of the gt3 rs to the gt3.

Sweet...so the GT4 RS is now going to be a 4.0L?!? That should spin some heads!

I wonder if there is time / possibility for a GT4 RS. To fit another GT car performance and price wise in-between the current GT4 and the GT3 does not seem that simple. I can't see it to be honest.

I understand, but my point is that even if this GT4RS surfaces with a new mainshaft, I suspect that buying that new mainshaft from Porsche and getting it installed will still be prohibitively expensive just to shorten one gear that you care about.

Wouldn't it be easier to simply change the final drive instead of changing gears?
