981 GT4s could have been had for low to mid $80k range. Add $30k for 4.5, and one is in the mid $110s...less than used 718 GT4s, let alone new 718 GT4s, and used GT3s. Value for some, given price to performance. Now, 981 GT4s are all listed over $100k, and/or above original MSRP...at least the ones available last week. Add $30k for the 4.5, and now one is a position where other choices are available.

Gotcha.
There is a 2016 here listed that the conversion is just finishing up on. $140k
Saw the listing here for the original car for like $80k
Is the conversion "just" $30k?
I assume there is a whole hose of "while you are there" items and upgrades that can be addressed.

Just the motor is ~ $30k'ish (subject to change, because, uncertain world). Transmission, and exhaust options can add another $30k+. Standard gear change (2-5) is ~ $10k, and exhaust is dependent on what you want to do. Dundon GT3 conversion can be like $16k or more for that exhaust "solution". Then add cost of new differential, should one go that route...but ~$30k "gets one in the game".

$80k GT4's and $30k 4.2/4.5 conversions haven't really been a thing since like 2019-2020.
I think a realistic number is maybe $90k and $40k....both of which are still prob a stretch.

My point is, I think the pricing trend has been going up over past few weeks...not sure if its seasonal, end of production announcement, or both. I put a deposit down on a 718 in April '19. Just got the deposit back last week. Had I sold (job uncertainty) last summer, I might be priced out at this point.

A couple questions I’m unsure if it’s been covered in these 60 pages
- do they port polish the heads for flow?
- has anyone or has Deman stated the horsepower if tuned / designed for 93 pump gas vs 98 octane?
thanks

When the "no more GT4s announcement" came out, I saw my SA a few weeks later, and asked for it back. Supposedly I was 14th on the list originally, with 2-3 in front of me as of last summer/fall. During the time, dealer knew I picked up the 981, and when speaking to one of the managers about ADMs, which started to be charged in recent times (they are historically a no ADM dealer...were lettting the 4-banger Caymans go for $20k under...still kicking myself), I expressed a "no-ADM clause". It may or may not have bumped me during this time of COVID and war delays towards the end.

There has yet to be an official announcement from Porsche on when production is ending though right? People keep saying it's ending but I've seen an official press announcement unless I missed it. I opted to for Euro Delivery and that took me from 6th on the list at my dealer to an order last fall that I'm picking up in July. Glad you grabbed a 981. I was originally told no ADM too and if I had not taken ED they had started charging ADM since the time I originally got on a list until the order which was around 2 years for me. I'm a nobody at our local dealer too so I don't get any sort of special treatment.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and Spyder Dead for 2024

PorscheEarlier today, we brought you news of a big price increase for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman lineup. In that story, we linked out to a post on the Rennlist forum with a document from Porsche that indicated the 718 Cayman GT4, Spyder, and T models were being discontinued for 2024. Porsche confirmed that this is, indeed, the case. Twenty twenty-three is the last model year for the GT4, Spyder, and T models.

"The 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder, along with the 718 Boxster and Cayman T models have enjoyed critical acclaim and been a success with our customers," a Porsche spokesperson told Road & Track in a statement. "Limited production phases are a natural part of the process and part of the overall product strategy. With the 2024 model year these models will run out of production while all other models will continue."
The GT4 and Spyder were both products of Porsche's Motorsport division, which is responsible for 911 GT2 and GT3 models, and currently, the Cayman GT4 RS. A Boxster twin to the GT4 RS is on its way and will fill the void created by the Spyder, while the hardcore Cayman will continue its run. The 718 T models were special versions of the base Boxster and Cayman, pre-packaged with otherwise-optional sports features and unique styling elements. Those are being replaced by the new Style Editions.
At the time of writing, the Spyder and GT4 are still listed on Porsche's U.S. configurator page, but at their prices for the 2023 model year. The rest of the lineup reflects the previously reported price bumps, and the Style Editions now appear too.
While there will be no lack of great 718 models available, the death of the GT4 and Spyder is especially sad as they'll likely be the ultimate naturally aspirated, manual-transmission iterations of the Cayman and Boxster. The next 718 will be all-electric, so the flat-six, mid-engine Porsche has an expiration date. The T models were great too, offering relative value in the Porsche world that the Style Editions don't appear to match. Expect all three to continue to be popular used models.

A few laps at Road Atlanta. I was curious to see the performance compared to the GT4 RS, so lined up behind one here. The RS' power seems to give it a small advantage on the back straight, although the PDK helps out too. The 4.5L holds its own with Turbo Ss and 991 GT3s. I have not driven with a 992 GT3 yet.
