On the third hand, if the US/ROW N/A version is ready, why forgo revenue while waiting to get the EU version ready?
Where'd you see that?

I can't see why that would be remotely necessary. Bear in mind that Audi is already selling an R8 with the particulate filter on an NA engine in the EU. It makes 620PS from 5.2-litres - about 120PS per litre.

If the GT4 is 4.0 and 420-425PS-ish, it shouldn't be a problem to have two versions of that engine, one with the filter and one without, making that power. It's not a particularly high state of tune - a little over 105PS per litre.

The GT3 / GT3 RS engine could be more of a problem trying to make upwards of 125PS per litre, but I can't see the need to do a turbo motor in the GT4.

[Car and Driver 2017]
“Natural aspiration is one of our main selling propositions,” Preuninger said. “We offer a car for people who want to feel something special, who want to have as much emotion as possible, as much throttle response and immediacy from a sports-car engine. And at Motorsport we think that can be achieved a little bit better with a [naturally aspirated] high-revving engine than any kind of turbo.”

Hear, hear!

Yeah well things change, thank god. Heres the discussion around the GT3 going only PDK with Preuninger.

"On when the manual gearbox was ruled out…

'We ruled out the manual gearbox in back to-back comparisons last summer. On every shift with the PDK is more emotional, because for the first time when you shift at 9000rpm there’s a bham! in the exhaust, and this gives you goosebumps. It blips the throttle on the downshifts, and on a road you don’t know you can go very fast with both hands on the wheel. And on a race track the PDK gains three-quarters of a car length with every shift, so after a long straight you’re ahead of the other car and can turn-in in front of him. It just works. This is the big news.

'There’s no chance of a manual. We don’t want to offer too many options on our GT cars. And if you’ve got a manual and a PDK you’ve got to have different set-ups for the suspension, the aero, the tyres, everything. We are a small team and can only concentrate on one car.'"

Andrew is quite the salesman, if the GT4 goes turbo he'll have an endless amount of reasons why the Cayman N/A platform is outdated and had to progress

^^ BioBanker beat me to it. The exact quote I was going to dig up when I read Yellow Sub's post.

Long history of "We are absolutely going to do it this way and will NEVER do it that way"... until they do. And you better believe that decision won't be left in Preuninger's hands. He'll probably be told after the decision has been made and when it's time to start telling the world how much better turbo cars are than those non-emotionally involving NA cars were.

It doesn't fit......at least on an unmodified 718 body/suspension arrangement and you would have to massively modify it.

That would be epic. All these months and months of speculation, potential introductions, etc.... And Porsche just drops it on a Tuesday. That would be fantastic.

Lotus Evora GT4 looks to be a competitor. Lap time comparisons of this and the GT4 Clubsport would be cool to see

Wow, what a turn this thread has taken.
A couple of videos and....

There was a video where a car that sounded completely turbo made a very NA noise on a downshift.

Never seen anything go back and forth aff much as this has.
