From the announcement of Porsche's 70th Anniversary info
"The sports car manufacturer from Zuffenhausen celebrates its 70th anniversary with a raft of activities. The first sports car to bear the Porsche name was registered on June 8, 1948 – the 356 “No.1” Roadster. It was on this day that the Porsche brand was born"
Seems like a good reason to reveal the 991 Speedster as a special edition commemorating the 70th Anniversary. Doubt they let the year pass without a special car for the anniversary, it obviously isnt the GT3 RS.

In 2015, GT4 launched along side the GT3 RS in Geneva
Headline from Porsche regarding Geneva Auto Show: A Focus on Motorsport: ..... And, they are saying nothing about the GT4, but it was launched in Geneva in 2015 along side the GT3RS... https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/prod...-rs-10052.html
Will they include the GT4 at this year's show? And, is the Focus on Motorsport going to be truly just one car???
And, from a marketers perspective, it is the perfect way to Debut a GT4 - the "entry level" GT4 along side of the "King 911" GT3RS. The GT4 gets a bump by being associated with the motorsports focused GT3RS, and at the same time takes nothing away from it.
No reason to delay. All the corporate activities of Porsche are focused on electrification of the future Porsche. So, I think there is no reason to delay the launch of what is truly "old school" naturally aspirated, track focused car. Launch it, sell it, make money, and keep old school customers happy. Like me.

It's the same way I buy concert tickets. I'm glad scalpers exist. I think of them as my agents who invest the time and capital to buy my seats for me and hold them till I'm in the mood to actually buy them myself. They perform a great service, including risking buying the tickets and holding them for 3 months. If I do that myself and then decide the day of the concert that I don't want to go, I'm stuck with tickets I don't want.
At an earlier time in my young life I was one of those agents. Now I'm doing my small part to support them. I like the system.

Just strolled across the Porsche stand here at 7:30AM, its pretty bare. Just a Boxster GTS, Carrera T and an RS under a sheet plus the usual hybrids. If there is a GT4 anywhere they are hiding it well and not sure where they would put it.

The RS and a concept electric cross turismo were introduced and that's all folks.
